I only read from "New Posts", I don't surf the "forums"...

Do you really want to trust an answer from someone surfing the lounge?
Yeah I know it's in the wrong section but the lounge seems to get me a quick answer which was what I wanted.

A quick answer is not always a good answer.

    I wasn't saying lounge lizards aren't trust-worthy...
More like I was saying odds are better to get a good answer if you ask in the right section...

X2. I'm sure it's right in front of me what I need to unplug, anything to do with electrical/wiring in an engine always confuses the **** out of me, don't know why.
By the way fastkatt, how's sunday for some tuning? Should be picking up my new MAF saturday.

What in the world is a "chiped piston"? what would cause a piston to "chip"?
It is like a "chip off the old block"? or is it like "chipping" someones tooth in a fist fight? Is it anything like the "chip" in my kitchen sink? or could it be similar to the "chip" in my paint on my car?

on these motors if youre pushing too much heat around the motor (boost) and you let your tune get away from you for even a fraction of a second the piston tops chip off because of the piston rings expanding and contracting because of the heat. 99% of the time it chips a piece off in the 1 o'clock area on the piston. tons of people drive around like this until they take the motor apart and see that its missing a piece, but during that time the car seems to run funny.

you either chip a piston, break a rod, or punch a hole in the piston. that is how you destroy these motors. just about any other way besides spinning a bearing is very unlikely.

yes from what i have read, the ve is used to check for maf fault and some cars seem to use a combination of maf and ve. only way to check if your car uses ve tables is to zero them out to see if there is a difference when running. most dont though. i think the main reason they have them is for when the maf fails it runs off the ve tables. may run like crap but atleast it runs and you dont have to pay a tow bill home. no real reason to run your car on ve tables only. maf is by far easier to tune then ve is. If are cars were ve only then when people would add a cold air intake you would have to get a tune more so then with a maf based vehicle.

Haha, no I don't have headers, I'm not getting an MAF code eaither but I'm pretty sure that's what it is.
