I'm not quite sure where to post this, but what do you guys think is better, a 97-03 GTP or the 04 GTP Comp G or just a 05+ (I think) supercharged GT

just curious cause someone offered me 7500 from my 01 GTP and im seriously considering taking it and buying a Comp G

I like the newer Grand Prix..IMO they ride better but I LOVE the wide look of the older body style as far as the engine and SC goes..well they all are the 3.8 but the 04+ have the Gen V the better SC but if im not mistaken the older body style has the better heads... (I have been wrong before! So someone correct me if i am!!). The compG is hands down prolly the best! You got the gears, and upgraded suspension on top of the GenV blower! If I was you I would for sure look for a Comp G!

    TAPShift sucks...it does nothing.

Only thing better about the CompG over the regular GTP is the suspension work and the 3.29 gears. Don't make your decision solely based on a little shifting feature

The Series III engines have better heads (04+ GPs). The downside to the Series III engines is GM's crappy electronic throttle system.

Nothing a tune can't fix, mine will be better once I get a new HP tuner. Need to replenish the parts fund first though!!

And if want to race from a roll... tapshift is worth it. Seeing how you can hold a speed in whatever gear you want.

The Comp G is your way to go.

You can hold a gear in any automatic transmission...instead of having cool little paddles you have a lever...same thing.

i could be wrong... im not even sure where i thought i seen this so i could be assuming, but doesnt the comp-g have some kind of manual valve body or something of the sort so its not as bad to be holding gears like than the regular automatic tranny?

If you want the ultimate you get a 97-03 gt, and do a genV top swap

Ive raced a compG from a roll, tapshift sucks.

pending on driver... but the general consensus is that they are about the same because the 97-03 are lighter, but the 04+ have a little more horsepower

pretty much the same. 04+ are heavier. that added horsepower is purely from the genV blower and slightly bigger intake valves. those are the only differences in performance over the 97-03.

this is all looking over the fact that the 04+ GPs are ugly and none of them came in a coupe. ever.
