I need to get a code reader to help diagnose my ABS issue, plus other potential codes that will come up in the future..

    suggestions? pricing?

    currently ive got a 3.1L 99' SE

will these code readers work for one engine only? ive got no clue about these things lol

find an ls1m. or someone willing to copy you the software and then you have to do the hard part of finding a cable and a palm it will run on. you can probably score the combo for like $130 or so max.

Look at spending $200 or more for one that will read abs codes. Take it to a private shop some will scan it for free.

Most run of the mill code readers do not read ABS codes. The ones that do are upper level models that are very pricey.

True, but an ABS code doesn't produce a check engine light. It produces an ABS light. The code is stored in a different module and requires different commands in it to access them. Hence why the ones that do are more expensive.

And to the OP, yes if you get a reader that can read the ABS code then it will tell you what hub is the issue. Then you should check the wiring and possibly replace the hub.

but without reading the code i wont know if its one, two, or four front back or whatever? right?

so if i can get the code read i will know whats going on and then can replace my parts?
the prev owner says it was a sensor problem according to her mech.

Right. Without knowing the code you're guessing and blindly swapping parts. Call around and find out who can read ABS codes. Then take it to whoever is cheapest (or free, in some cases) to get it read. You can then do the work yourself.
