Most run of the mill code readers do not read ABS codes. The ones that do are upper level models that are very pricey.

True, but an ABS code doesn't produce a check engine light. It produces an ABS light. The code is stored in a different module and requires different commands in it to access them. Hence why the ones that do are more expensive.

And to the OP, yes if you get a reader that can read the ABS code then it will tell you what hub is the issue. Then you should check the wiring and possibly replace the hub.
