I'm sure it'll seem like whole new car once you do that.

I saw a silver V the other day, forgot how much I liked them. Don't see too many first gen V's around here.. I see way more second gen's for some reason.

So your saying classic first gen.......

Helps considering there were 3 different versions of the V2's so way more are around.

Iirc first gen was black silver dark blue burgandy right?

so these are the motor mounts i have right now (black):

    https://creative-steel.com/store/ind...t_detail&p=128

but i've been seeing crap going around lately of the mounts breaking in half or tearing at the end cap where they are welded, etc.

now, the real solution is to get UMI mounts:

    http://www.umiperformance.com/catalo...roducts_id=607

those are rebuildable on the cheap and are basically a set it and forget it solution to the ****ty ass stock motor mounts (fluid filled, destroyed easily), but would they be too harsh for me to daily with? i'm not foreign to a little added vibrations at idle, but i don't want it to end up being a rattly **** show everyday when i drive it.

    thoughts?

Stock bushings with fluid are meant to be smooth, you are going to probably feel this. Do I think it will be unbearable...No. If you get a lumpy cam that will rock the motor it will get worse for sure.

I don't think it will rattle your teeth out, but you will feel a little more, I think you could daily this and be fine.

i'm under the same impression, but vibrations are relative when it comes to how people describe and handle them. it seems like there's both gangs of people that "didn't mind it" and the polar opposite of people saying "it's now a giant vibrator". i love the idea of it being a one and done setup, i'll never do motor mounts again (or if i need to rebuild them it'll cost me about $10), but at the cost of having my wife ***** (because i won't care about the vibration) or not want me to drive around charlotte in it anymore? yeah.

Poly mounts are going to be firm....If you find solid rubber mounts you would probably be better off.

all of my choices are poly or stock. there's no in between.

however, with the UMI i could probably get the bushing size they use and shoot for a lower durometer poly with it. i think they are off the shelf bushings from energy suspension.

I'd be worried about the fact that it says they provide a "sporty feel"...to me, that's them saying the car will be more useful to your wife than you...

Like you said - the car would become a giant vibrator, and every time she rode in it, she'd end up suction cupped to the leather seat...MIGHT be good...I don't know lol

Poly mounts in a LS motor car are the same as solid rubber for 3800 guys. Completely different animal were dealing with. LS motors are balanced way batter than the 3800 could ever be.

i've already decided i'm going to just get the good mounts and be done with it. i don't want to do those motor mounts again, especially because once you install headers it's impossible to do them without taking them (the headers) off.

Meh.....it's a pain in the ass but we'll worth it. Those umi mounts are exactly what I was gking for when I had mine built
