I am now the owner of a 77 MG. Right now it's stock except for the Toyota 5 speed swap which is supposed to help these cars out quite a bit. It runs and drives great, I just need to actually learn how to drive stick well, I suck at it ATM.

The planes for now are just to drive it and learn more about these, I've done some homework. The first thing need to do is fix the e-brake, I'm pretty sure that the cable is frozen in its sheathing. After that I want to get rid of the ugly rubber bumpers and either go to the older chrome bumpers or just go bumperless. We all know if I get hit by something big at any speed the car is gone. After that I'm going to go through the suspension and leave the drivetrain for last since it runs good right now. I just don't know if I want to stick with the stock 4 banger or do the GM 60* V6 swap.

I'll get some more pics once I get it home and washed. Its sitting at a friends house until I get my garage cleaned out.

Beef up the stock engine...they've been known to push some good power with twin Webers.

Welcome to the world of "Lucas wiring", lol... Hope you're good at chasing electrical gremlins. It's the one thing that I hate about my 2 MG's. Rover swap and done

I've heard about the legendary wiring in these cars. There's already a new wiring harness up front and I think I have one for the rear that needs to be put in.

Replace "interesting" with PITA and I agree, lol.. Still have to get my clutch master bled on my 74 Midget. Hopefully I don't have to replace the entire clutch as the motor and trans have to come out to do it. Then I think I have to go in and adjust the rockers and dual SU carbs again as I think it's running a bit rich and the valvetrain is getting noisy, even for a flat tappet motor. Another in the "winning" catagory for fuel injection.

Why not? It's a good motor, also very compact.

I got the MG home and it definitely needs a good going through. It runs good though, the brakes and suspension need work. I don't like w weak brakes and a wobbly string wheel at speed.

    So far plans are:
Change all fluid in the car
    Probably rebuild the rear drums
    Stainless lines
Whole suspension bushing kit with kingpins
    Tune up

This is just to get it really road worthy. I'll also lower it, take the stupid rubber bullets off, and get all the gauges working. The body and interior are in pretty good shape overall. The wheels will also get painted bronze. I'd love to do a team interior one day as well.

Thought I would spice up your thread for you.

I went to my uncles yesterday to help him finish his MG. ( He just wants to get rid of it at this point ).

The car has been in a front end collision. The bumper was bent and there was body damage, most of which has been repaired

Last night all we did was get the bumper on and a few other small things.
    Heres the progress.

Next up are installing the new carpet and carb.

The e-brake on this one was also frozen. My uncle sprayed it daily with w-d40 and he eventually got it.

Looking at yours now I see how the front bumper is supposed to fit.

I can't wait till this bumper can come off. That won't happen till I get it on the road. I've ordered a new brake master, nothing comes out I'd the rear bleeder valves.

I forgot that I had this thread.

    I painted the wheels

Now I dropped the front bumper for a Sebring front valence painted at the Union Jack, I may paint it later if I don't like it. It's going to stay bumperless. Now I need to get some turn signals and a grill. I may also either run some fog lights or just some overriders.
