Careful with the heat gun, loosen the paint and you'll be bummed. I seriously doubt you'll get that with hot n cold but... least agressive method first works for me. That sounds good on the match then, chicks can SPOT that stuff right away. The hot glue deal involves plastic studs and puller, not something easily duplicated at home but a no-sweat try-and-see at a PDR place. That is, unless they look at it and go "nope.". I'll take a stab at body shop price for that... seems like an hour or half hour for the dent, 2 or 3 for paint n rub... I bet somebody might professionally hook it up for a couple hun. Weight that against failed tries plus then having to bodyshop it anyway. Just sayin. I may be just throwing too much kindling on the fire here, you think on it bud.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

    Dents give it character.

I've always wanted to have a car in a car show, and I'm hoping this one will be it. I have plenty of other things to spend money on before this single dent, but I figured I'd ask the pros what they thought. It'll stay for now, unless I become friends with a PDR guy or something of that sort. I suppose if this is the only cosmetic blemish on the car then I'll be in good shape (pun), lol.

Oh and a guy joined a FB group I'm on with a white 2000 GTP with a white SD hood.

I don't think I'm really fond of the white hood. I like the black, or contrast at least. I need to figure out what I'm going to do before I order the spoiler, because whatever color the hood is, the spoiler will match.

Would look 3x better without the gay spyder headlights, fender stripes and add contrast to the hood.. Like black in the area where the scoops are.

It really depends on what happens between now and then. If I get the rockers, AVT box, and transmission redone...who knows, a turbo might be in the cards. A cam will be involved if the turbo doesn't happen though. I may end up happen with a smaller pulley and a cam, who knows. I'll be satisfied when I have a somewhat reliable car in the 12s. When I say somewhat reliable you need to keep in mind I'm the guy that will mute the stereo and yell "Shut the **** up!!!" at the wife\kids so I can listen for a little tink or bonk or bink or rubbing noise that I think the car might have made once.

Hmm thought you already had rockers. Either way pick your poison wisely.. You won't be getting reliability out of a turbo lol you'll constantly be breaking sh*t.

That has been discussed also. My wife has a friend who does professional photography and she wants to do a photoshoot with the car for examples to customers or some such. When she take the higher resolution pictures I'll find someone (probably also her) that can photoshop different colors onto the hood, then make a choice from there.

    Rocker panels, my bad.

About damn time. I found this thread nearly 2 weeks ago and every night after work i'd read a few pages before bed. I finally just got to the end. Holy ****.
You're doing a great job on that car, i'm a bit tech-happy as well, so i really appreciate all you're doing with it.
I'm also interested to see how you're going to fix the rocker panels, i'm up in Michigan so yours are much nicer than mine!

LOL thanks man, hard to believe this thread is almost 75 pages long. I've learned a lot and you can tell from the earlier posts in the thread. Depending on how much I get laid off from work (it is that time of year), the rockers may or may not get done before winter. It's should take all that much, I think it'll be about $2-300 for everything...and about a week of downtime on the car.

Fender is on, I picked up some some under coating and already had some rust converter and used it. I used the wire brush or grinder to get down to bare metal, then sprayed rust converter on and let it dry for a few hours. After than I put 3 coats of under coating on and let it dry. Pics will pretty much speak for themselves. It needs a bath:

I got everything I could down to bare metal here, it's actually still pretty solid. I was happy. Really the rockers are the only problems left.

There was a little bit of rust on the inner well I took care of on the left here:

    And all back together:

Now, to clean up and mow the grass. I didn't want to mow first and have the wind blow clippings all over the paint.

fender looks to be a good match too.

because its not a driveway??? just try parking on the wrong side of the street here too. people like to complain to much around here.

your not even legally allowed to work on a car in your drive way unless its registered to the house. but that one is not enforced unless you piss your neighbors off. they complain and your shop is now closed up.

Yea I've never had a problem. Most of the time I won't do stuff that could lead to leaking, since it's our only concrete so I can't have stains. So the electronic work, car washes, etc. happen up front. I'll even pull the car right up to the front porch during bad storms. For some reason the tree and house seem to shield a lot of that stuff.

Lol, my car is parked in the middle of a 3 way intersection right now, facing the wrong way and I just waved at the the cop that patrols our neighborhood. NJ and Oakland are the only places I have had to pay to leave.
