I'm gonna be researching, but how forgiving is the fabric? IE the foam stuff around some of the edges is coming off in some places. Also, any specific fabric? How much did you use?

IIRC the stock headliner was about 42x36ish.. When I order the fabric the place sold it by the yard and it was I believe 60ft long so I think I ordered 2-4 yards or so.. I had plenty left over but I had little choice since I wanted it done all it one piece and didn't get it locally. If the 97-03 is anything like the 04.. Removing the old headliner fabric from the backing takes a bit of time mainly because you don't want to rush and pull off any of he old backing and have the defects show. Now if you were to pull off the old backing also.. The headliner for me was extremely flimsy and just wouldn't have been the same.. Yea the headline to have now I pulled in stock form from the JY to start over. The glue itself it pretty forgiving.. You spray it on the headliner.. Let it tact for 2-3 minutes then you can spray a little on the material itself (not really necessarily. It comes out and looks like spider web so you can easily tell when you sprayed enough. I didn't go ape **** and sprayed the adhesive all over the whole headliner. I did half at a time.I folded the material in half and sprayed only half of the headliner at a time (top portion where the dome light is all the way to just past the sunroof area). When you lay down the material lay it down carefully.. If you apply pressure with your hand then it's going to be a ***** to remove once the adhesive touches and then you risk pulling up any of the stock backing if you do. Having a second set of hands helps.. Have someone hold the end of the material so you have control on where the material lays. Start from the inside and work your way out. It's similar to how you vinyl wrap something.. The outside edges can easily be pulled up and done again if there's any defects where the material bunched together etc but not easily done if they're in the center. As someone holds the material for you.. Use your hand to add pressure to the material to get it to bond and stretch at the same time make sure the material isn't getting bunched up and that it lays down flat and tight. Once the whole headliners laid down and tight I go back and cut the area where the dome light and sunroof goes and use slit cuts and a little adhesive on the back.
I'm terrible at explaining how to do something on paper I much rather just show you in person but of course that's not a option.. If this doesn't make sense ^ that's explain it and I'll revisit it tomorrow when I'm have not been drinking lol

The foam around the edges should be fine because most of that is covered up by the windows seal or the interior some of the interiors plastics. I used suede to well.. Match the inserts on the seat but I know you have some weird color combos in your interior now so idk what color your planning on. Going with.

I was thinking charcoal, but I'm not 100% sure at this point. At some point I will probably end up with a different color interior. The other day I noticed a crack in the dash and that was really the only reason I wanted to keep the tan. Now that it's cracked, I'll be hunting for a charcoal replacement. Back to the headliner, I thought about black, but the pillars are black too, so that probably won't look so good, what do you think?
My pillars are black I didn't want to overdo the black so I figured the charcoal was the better choice.. To give you any idea

Seatbelts are gray nowadays(well charcoal now)
Old pictures I had in my PB but they can probably give you a good idea.. Inserts in the doors have also been redone as well eventually I'll get a picture of those. Oh the pictures don't show it but the plastic trim piece that goes around the sunroof is black also.

Yea, I'd paint that to match the pillars as well, I'd probably leave the doors if they were in good shape. My carpet isn't in the best shape, but it's not too bad so I might dye it depending on what the JY has to offer at that the time. These damn Rockers are my main priority now. I'm gonna be buying parts to do it, since I will have a week off at some point, and I can borrow my mother-in-laws GP for a few days then.
Door panels are easy enough to find.. After owning the car for some many years the door panels where just boring compared to everything else I've done so naturally the inserts needs some love. Depending on what color the stock carpet is.. Dyeing can be a good idea but also if replacement black or charcoal carpet is resist u available and affordable might be the better route.
It took some time to go from beige to where it's at now but it's worth it in the end. I just hate how GM use to two tone everything with tan(beige) then black.

I used to do a lot of headliners back when I was an installer we stayed away from the 3M spray can stuff as down here they always came back. I always used contact cement used for attaching counter tops in a paint gun it works the same. Spray it on the liner and the material wait 20 minutes then slowly start at one end and roll them together. Get the headliner material from a place like Jo Anne's fabric, for some reason they carry headliner material and grill cloth.

Interesting. Never had a problem using it myself but then again I only done it for myself and a few friends and so far no issues over the years.

We used the 3M 90 for a little while, but kept having customers come back. Then again inside temps can get well over 160* in cars here so that may have been a factor. 90 is by far the better of the 3m series, but using the "gorilla snot" as we called it will make sure it never comes off until the foam actually degrades and it's time to do it again in about 10 years. The headliner I did in my Diablo was more than 10 years old when I got rid of it and still in perfect shape. We did lots of headliners back in the 90's we also used it for attaching vinyl to door panels when making speaker enclosures. Used to be one of my favorite things to do, made a lot or build outs to hold 6.5" and even 8" in the doors. If you have a compressor you can get a cheap touch up gun and it works great, you'll have to open your valve a little more and I use cardboard to get my pattern down then go ahead and spray both sides it's usual enough to cover a full sized car. Works great for doing a padded vinyl speaker box and for carpet too.

Made a trip to the junkyard with a friend of mine today, he was looking for a front bumper for his Sebring but couldn't find one. For the first time ever I came across a 9C1 Impala. I picked up the transmission cooler off of it, but that was it, really. I don't need the oil cooler, or power steering cooler. I suppose I could have gotten the power steering cooler, but it was HOT. 105*F heat index with 65% humidity. Bleh. I did manage to pull a new rear valve cover, I think mine is cracked by the gasket causing a slow leak. I'll have to paint it and all that jazz, but I have it now. Once we got back into town I swung by Oreilly's and had then whip up a hydraulic hose for me, with compression fittings. That way I can cut off the factory rubber hose\barb off of the hard lines for the 9C1 and put this on. It will NOT leak.
I also stumbled across an old Alpine MRV-300S, which is a pretty kickass little amplifier from 1996, lol. It'll out perform my Infinity even when the Infinity is working right...and mine isn't. I'll have pics of it all later on after some cleaning.
lol, I need to lay out all the amps I have and decide which ones to use. Good luck with the Alpine how did it get so dirty? Keep your fingers crossed it's the infinity that's the problem.

It's not so much dirty as worn. I can't for the life of me remember where I got it, but a lot of the writing is worn off of the sides ( I can still read what I need to), the screws for the terminals don't match, etc. I don't really care since no one will see it, lol.
$27 piece of hose right here. I bought the line at the JY, cut it off right before the barb of the line and put this hydraulic hose on. I don't have the compression stuff tightened down quite yet, I'm waiting for the install to do that. Amp is going in first, good old MO weather, in 30 minutes it went from hot and sticky to pouring rain.

Lol, what line pressure are you going to run on that amp? The trunk reminds me of one of those space alien movies. Don't go tword the light! I can't tell if your amp is newer then the one I have the power led is on the end with the xover and stuff.
Line pressure? lol It'll have it's own 4 AWG power wire, and I'll probably set the gains by ear.
