Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
Just catching up... underground plumbing is why, just know where your lines are.
Boobs that looks tits! Nice match to the door, gaps, straight, shiny, protected adequately, and best of all done! Good to see the torque box area solid too. Nice neat job. I would expect nothing less! JY is tha shiz. Theres a slight color difference at the bumper but thats almost always the case. Horizontal is less obvious than vertical mismatch for whatever science reason lol. I need to mow too. Meh.
Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
That color difference was there with the factory (I assume) fender, too. I'm not sure why. I plan to get a different bumper and repaint it at some point anyways. Nice thing is I am going to keep my old fender for paint matching and all that jazz. If this job got your seal of approve than I am a happy camper, lol. My welding (goofy) friend saw the rocker panels and went on and on about how easy it would be to fix and all that. He was talking about just cutting out the cancer and just tacking a piece to the top of the cut then bending\forming it to the body lines. He seemed pretty confident, so I dunno I might try it out just to get me through the winter or 2. The cuts\his welds would be below where I was going to cut it off and put replacements in, so the worst case scenario is I'd be faced with the same amount of work I am now. I was thinking of coming up with some idea (that I'm sure I'll get help on from IDJ and\or Jeff, lol) about putting a drain or at least access to the inner rockers in between the holes of the side skirt bracket. That way I can clean them out after every winter along with initial rust treatment. Here's a random pic from google and the bracket is rusted to **** (mine isn't) but you can see where the holes are...or should be...

Thoughts?
Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
That bracket is the one that kept me from nabbing a fender too yesterday, because not rusted. The bumper color looking different is to be expected on anything but black, its original equipment lol. Along the lines of the rocker question, hey cut a cross section of the rocker contour (vertical slice) and get a metal shop with a brake to match it four feet long then plug weld that baby onto your trimmed flange. The only thing is 18 gauge would be nice but is hard to bend a whole four foot section in a hand brake. A guy could ask for 20 gauge, a little thinner. 22 might even work, but what I'm saying is you might need longer than four feet which is a standard width. You'd be splicing then... and I bet it would cost as much as short rockers. You decide. Of course with a battery powered saw, donor cars come into play. Clean ones do get junked. So have youy ever seen these? Pretty nifty for a shadetree bodyman and a paint-selling OReillys has em here-

Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
Wow, now that's some rust! I've done a little body work, but my buddy Chuck is the body master he took a 06' civic R or something like that and it was wrecked in the rear dr side quarter panel, and cut that stuff out and fit 2 cars together on a frame machine and it looks great. He's on my FB page as Charles, looks like Vin Diesel. His cover photo is that car., he's my go to guy for bodywork.

Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
So Russo did a quick photoshop to make the hood white. I think I like the black better, I dunno.

But the white hood needs black inserts.

^ this I like the idea of color matching but accenting the hood grills would be tittys

Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
One solid color makes it disappear.. Accent it with a subtle color like black and it'll give it more pop without looking out of place or like a accident victim like your current black hood.

Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
If any white is involved I think I'll do black in the "scoop" sections then everything else white, if you know what I mean. I dunno yet, I like the contrast between black and white.
Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
I'm with you on that, somehow the white is too plain. But consider the angles traffic views it from as opposed to walking up to it in your parking spot. I will think on a suggestion, can edit too. Throw me down a closer-up of those hood grille openings or something. My first thought is painting the outer sides of the scoop bulges, that would accent the modification (hood) so it stands out from the side like now, but without creating confusion about the opening size to oncomers or looking like abbreviated SS stripes. I've heard about those white hoods they have in MO, mmm-hmmm. Easy, now. ha.
Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
Good thing they don't let me eat in the computer lab at work, I just would have spit my food out, hahahahahahaha. There was a guy on facebook that did something similar to what I was talking about, but inverted and with red and black. Let me find the picture...

Not quite the same, but something like that. Maybe inverted or something of the sort.
Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
^ set that on fire..
That's looks like complete ass
The red needs to be black.. And the black needs to be white as if it was going on your car.. And the paint on the front insert portion doesn't need to be stretched it that much.

Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
I know I know, that's what I was talking about inverting. In front\in\whatever you wanna call it he scoops with be black, and the rest would be white. Basically take that hood, paint the red black, and paint the black white.
Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
Do the roof and trunk in black... Problem solved!
Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
Spoiler is black already, and depending on what happens with the hood, the SLP Gen 1 spoiler I get will be black.

^ This!
Move on to the next project. LOL
Re: 2000 GTP: Relay Addiction.
Trunk and spoiler? This is all just talk for now, rocker panels, tuning, then transmission first. Then other stuff that doesn't need to be done really.

Yup. I'm used to it now, so it doesn't bother me. LOL
