EDIT: Actually no on location. It's in front of the ball joint, I *think* attached to the steering knuckle OR the wheel hub. I couldn't find *any* pics online so that was the best blind reach around pic I could take since car is too low to get under. The tab is mirrored on the other side, all one piece. It looks like a bow tie, or dog bone shape.

I think it really looks like an old school wind up key.
