I agree with not going for a FAST either... pick up a used LS6 and have it ported. Take the $$ difference and put it towards something else. My GTO is very minimally modded and it is putting down 333 and 348 to the rear wheels... SLP long tubes, Lingenfelter CAI, Corsa Touring catback and dyno tuned by Jeremy Formato... not too shabby for an "LS1" in a heavy pig of a GTO. Best ET was at Atco Raceway in NJ... 13.23 at 109. That was on street tires, not power shifting and definitely needing a driver mod. It has the MPH for 12's.
