Modding my gtp

At 205k the cars running fine, hopefully it stays that way... Anyhow replacing the brakes and giving it a tune up this week. Here's the new, zzp oil filter, 180 thermostat, tr6ix iridium spark plugs, royal purple oil with a flush, antifreeze with a flush debating on the plugs should I go OEM or with the 10.3mm plugs from zzp. Also rebuilding the supercharger snout and purchasing a 2.5 zzp downpipe. I'm also planning on getting the k&n aircharger (kinda expensive) and then upgrading to the 3.4 pulley. Opinions? Advice? Feedback? Experiences? Open to it all.

Ok good. Now you should know why everything above is no.

Get a normal Wix Oil Filter, run full synthetic oil...
Coolant flush is fine, run whatever coolant is in the car now.
Just get your normal part store plug wires for the car.
Run whatever the part store has listed for a stock spark plug unless you want to run Autolite 104's for a modded setup.

Now for the 3.4 pulley.. Do you want the two piece piston mod? because thats how you get the two piece piston mod.... A 2.5in DP and a k&n intake is not enough.

Since you read the above thread you should know what you need but just to reinforce that....

Get speed daddy headers, Intake, AL104s, 180* Tstat, Wideband, Scangauge and a tune. Then drop to that 3.4...
Rockers are a good addition at that point.
Cam, Intercooler, E85 will all allow you drop lower.

Or go turbo.

If a K&N filter is kinda expensive... Then you should probably refrain from entering thoughts of MODDING!

Headers, Open Cone DIY intake, AL104 copper plugs, 180* tstat, 3.5" pulley, tune, GREEN COOLANT, new Lim gaskets, OEM plug wires.


That should get ya going pretty good.

So you read the links?

.4 smaller than stock, pushing approx. 4lbs boost more than stock... It's not the 3.4, it's the supporting mod's that go along with it and tuning for NO knock that makes the difference.

Read up, then read some more, not just here, everywhere. The 3800 platform has been around a while, there's plenty of material available. Then when you feel comfortable, make a plan and ask questions, and read some more...

boy oh boy. stick around read some more posts. why rebuild a blower if the coupler is bad? thats a waste. coupler replacement will run you 30 bucks ordered on line.

you need headers, to run a smaller pulley and you live in CA, so headers for that dumb CARB BS are like 800 bucks. ( tog or slp ) your best move is to move, or stay stock, this is gonna cost you dearly in the wallet.

a home made intake can be removed and the stock one put back on when you go for inspection. those headers listed will allow the the egr to still work, so its still there. and you need to make sure you have a carb cat as well.

So you'll end up paying more for the carb approved headers or deal with uninstall then and throwing the stock manifolds back on when it comes inspection time.. A lot of work if you ask me. Yup CA sux!

Haha you guys have no idea how it is down here... We have mobile smog check points rumor has it if you don't stop they can cite you. Cops popping hoods checking for illegal modifications mostly on Hondas but also stock Subaru's, Mazda's etc... But there's always a way to prevent being sent to inspection. That's all the info I'm sharing not trying to get arrested.

But I'll stick around I'm sure I'll learn a few things. Oh and I got the rebuilt kit for 55$ where as the coupler costs 30$. I bought it off of a eBay vendor who was recomended on a few forums here. BTW this is my first time ever being in a forum.

couples are 20 off ebay, with new gm sc fluid. get a green one. if the case bearings are not making noise leave them alone, its not like they just come out, theres some work involved. not needed unless they are f ed up.

if you got a loop hole you can slip through, i say do what you want then.
