Btw that's some nice fab u got there. So did the 2000+ seats bolt right up?

Well between mine and my cousins regal his rides smoother hands down. Maybe its because my suspension is more worn but I can literally feel every bump in my car versus his which more of a body roll feel in corners. But his chasis has over 300k and mines only has 155k.
mine too![]()
I don't think he's knows what he's talking about...stupid noobs![]()
Yeah the gp and regal are both w body cars. Bonneville is an h body or something.
Noob here. I have to jump in on this. Just bought my first GTP. 2005 Awesome ride! Stage 3 260hp. Remote Start Nav System... I'm keeping it stock. I drove Buicks for a long time Mostly LeSabres and a few Roadmasters. . They are dependable and a great cruiser. Plus cheap to fix. And plush interiors. I put a lot of salesman miles on the Buicks. But then I turned 60. So it's time for some fun. The GTP is hands down the most fun I've had driving a car. I'm taking it to the West Coast from NE Ohio this summer. And my 19 year old son's comment: "You finally bought a cool car!" So that seals it for me.
Series 3 not stage 3
Therein lies the problem. You're taking an old car with 300k miles on it, and comparing it to another old car with 155k miles on it. Not exactly a good set up for a scientific finding, or drawing a valid conclusion. Way too many variables on what is wrong, or fixed with non-OEM parts, etc by that stage in the cars' lives.
Bottom line is they're both w-bodies, which means they were built on the same platform. They have the same motor, trans and supercharger, and weigh about the same. When new, they turned out about the same times in the 1/4 mile. As for cornering, the Regals sit slightly higher, but that's because they got variable rate springs all the way around (GPs got fronts only), and a strut tower bar from the factory, so if anything, that should offset any disadvantages.
And the only reason I can think of that the GP would feel roomier in the back than the Regal is because the seats were thicker/better on the Regals, which may take up a few more inches against the knees compared to the cardboard wrapped in pleather that is the GP seats. I'd gladly trade off the loss for the far greater comfort.
Yup. All of that pretty much makes since and like I said before Buick put more time into their interior which is why its a bit heavier. (100 pounds I think). The GP still feels comfy to me. Overall Buick has the quality and Pontiac has the speed. I'll take the speed ;D
Whoever said the bonneville is the best pontiac that is wrong. The G8 is the best pontiac.
I would have to go find some digging, but in the past when I tried to find weight, the 4 door GP was actually a couple of pounds heavier than the Regal. Most of the time when people have shown me a lighter weight for the GP it was in the 2 door version. As far as "which car is faster", I only raced a couple of grand prix, but they were literally neck and neck. The only difference was in the driver and not in the performance of the car.
True. But to be honest every time I've raced my cousins regal (we are both n/a) I seem to pull him 85% of the time. There are very few runs where we are tied or he beats me(and this is with a passenger in my car recording+ 2 12" inch subs and 3 amps(I know I got him beat in weight) and I usually let him get the hit which means I have to play catch up).
We are both completely stock except K&N drop in filters. As for weight, we actually tested this theory of which car is heavier. On the driver door it states that my car is just about 100 pounds lighter than his (can't remember if it was 4493 or or 3393 but its one of them and his said 4593 or 3493). I'm not sure if the weight included passengers but either way his is still about
100 lbs heavier with passengers or not.
Keep in mind that his car haus leather interior versus my car having the sh*tty cloth interior(it looks nice though no rips, stains, or tears). And both of our cars are well maintained.
Although his chassis has 300k he has less than 80k on his motor(swapped) and less than 40k on his remanufactured Jasper transmission.
My engine has 155k and probably the same on the transmission(which is slipping and shuttering at WOT) which is a lot more wear than his motor and tranny. Check out my thread on 99 GT slipping at WOT.
OVERALL I'm just stating the facts here of quality versus speed. Sometimes you just can't have both.
