    1994 grand prix will only move if 2nd gear start is on and will not go in R any ideas why

    Im going to assume its an Auto....

    Sounds like a band or valve body issue. Transmission time.

    Pull the trans dipstick...red, or dirty brown and foul smelling?

    Brownish not too bad and little smell. But turn on 2nd gear start and it drove and shifted fine just won't move when off

    If you walk through the gears. R, D, 3, 2, 1 without 2nd start on, do you get anything in any gear?
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
