I was hoping to get some feedback on Triple Edge transmissions. Good? Great? Not so? also looking for an engine builder. I have read TONS of good reviews about Billboost. Does he have his own website? Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks!!

TEP is great. That Bill guy is ok.... he only works from his home though...the PDM thing was a joke that kinda went semi real.
Punch & Bill- Thanks for the info on TEP!
Bill- would you be interested in building or rebuilding an engine for me? I am more than willing to compensate you for it...
I don't build these bottom ends. I would hand a bottom end to a machine shop and build up from there. Honestly there's too much there that I wouldn't want to do in the bottom end. After that point, sure. I'd put one together for you. As for transmissions. I can assemble it, again though..the VB and channel plate would come from TEP. There's no better builder that I'm aware of for a transmission than TEP.
My situation is this. I have a P0304 code. I checked the plugs, plug wires, and coil packs. I had a cylinder comprssion test done and the best it read was 75 lbs. and won't hold compression. My friend (who helped me do the test) said it's either a bad valve or a bad piston ring. I will start pulling off the top end tommorrow and praying it's just a valve. The engine has 138,000 miles on it, so in your opinion, would it be worth just doing a top end rebuild? This car is, or was, my daily driver. I'm hoping it will be again![]()
Me personally.. if it was mine. I'd pull the VC and see if it's a bad spring etc on top. Beyond that it's most likely piston/rings. Then I'd pick up another motor and drop it in. The money you'd spend to have stuff fixed is much greater typically than buying another.
I understand. Thanks for the advice! If it is the just the top end, I'd like to make arrangements to tow my car up to you (I live in PA) and have it rebuilt. I have the passion and finances (sort of) to work on my car, but not the time or facilities (no garage). If it is the piston / rings, I'll go ahead and buy a short block. Question though, would it be better to install the short block and bring the car up to you for the top end or send you the block first and then haul the car up when it's ready to be installed? Sorry for all the questions!
If you need motor assembly. That's always easier on an engine stand. So leave the shortblock out. Likely though..you won't find many shortblocks.
Bill has such a good reputation! Not like there could possibly be anyone in PA who does this kind of thing, too...LOL
Where you located in PA?
There ya go. I hadn't really thought of the Quincy MA guy as a PA builder. I'd recommend Hitman as well.
You're about 3.5 hours south of where I am from and will soon be again. I even have the Billboost seal of approval! lmao
You are an easy 5.5 hours from me. That's a hike. Heck..I think you are only 2-3 from 2003 SSEi. 3 or so from Hitman. There's plenty of other builders out there.
I'm always down. When are you looking for all this to take place? What exactly do you need done? I'm unemployed at the moment and will be leaving Boston for good in a few weeks, so once I get back I'll have plenty of time.
Well, worse case scenario I guess is the piston ring so I'll have the motor pulled and then check on the availability/price of another motor vs. taking this one to a machine shop to have rebuilt. I'll pull all the goodies ,that I just got done installing LOL, off of this engine. Either way, I'll have a motor minus the top end ready for you. I am going to shoot for the first week in Nov., to coincide with my vacation. Same question as to Bill, would you want the engine in the car to rebuild top end or out of it? Also, do you tune? if so, then I may upgrade the cam, rockers, and springs. I have an Overkill PCM that I just recieved but it isn't tuned for an aftermarket cam.
