Read some of the threads .... great info and experiences ... so informative.
My problem .......... I have a 2000 GTP 197,000 mi. on it and has been running great. Change oil religiously (synth.) every 5000 mi., plugs & ignitors, 22 mos. ago. Been getting 26-28 MPG on highway, at 75 mph.
I was driving down highway (@65mph) other day, all of a sudden it begins to spurt, hestitate and sputter, until it actually died, rolling to a stop on the side of highway. All elect. & battery was fine ..... I replaced fuel pump resister ($9) and checked fuse (ok) tried to crank over and over again and all it did was sputter and barely fire once or twice. It seemed like it was not getting gas, although from pumping pedal so much I smelled some gas, not a whole lot. I had it towed back to my garage and here it sits. Tried to restart several times till i ran battery down, still resulted it that sputtering and would not fire completely or for more than 3-5 seconds, to not at all. Also no codes or check engine light, show. Fuse and resister is good in fuse box under the hood.
My guess is as follows: ... fuel pump(I think i hear it when I turn key to on, but have to check closer), .... fuel filter, .... fuel regulator, ..... MAF ....or injector problem? ... or something different than mentioned?
    1) I began at MAF, 1st because all i had to do is disconnect it and try to start it again ...... Sure enough that was it ..... I changed it out and did the fuel filter also while I was in the mood to update a cheaper part ($10). Thanks to GP Forum ....... I wouldn't know where to start, if i had not joined.

    2) I have noticed I will need to change out upper / lower intake manifold gaskets soon (I see some very minor seapage in some areas. There is no smoking from exhaust or smell of antifreeze anywhere and oil looks clean and not milky. The only reason I bring this up, is for anyone's advice to procedures while removing and installing manifold and valve covers. AND what else i should be lookng for, while it's apart (head gaskets?). Finally ..... since I will have it apart what other parts could I : ...
    A) replace and
    B) upgrade for performance and fuel economy
IF I could spend and extra $200 on 1-2 or 3 items??

I REALLY WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR ADVICE AND OPINION. >>>>>>>>> THANKS TOM

    welcome

There are alot of LIM threads on here and other forums.....main thing is to take your time and stay organized.
You won't need to remove your heads if your just doing LIM gaskets.

this will get u an idea of what your in for watched that 3 times before I took notes, lol

wow... I've only put 7K miles on since last may.

But I didn't notice any problems before I did my gaskets, just had some time to kill and figured I should get it done. I did get a little better MPG, but I also replaced wires/plugs.... **** I never did my front O2 yet. I've been running a drilled t-stats since I owned it, but I do notice that my car cools off alot faster when the fans kick in since I changed from dex to green peak. But I'm guessing the 5 flushes & cleaner I did helped that.
