First off, will a Gen II 3800 GTP supercharger work with a Gen III engine? I know the last generation Grand Prix GTPs have 20 more horsepower (260 vs 240) but is that hp increase due to a different supercharger?

I'm considering a deal on a 2004 GTP but the supercharger needs a rebuild. There's a nice supercharger removed from a '99 Gen II GTP at a local salvage yard. The counter guy said the superchargers will bolt up to any Gen II or Gen III 3800 GTP.
    Any help is appreciated.

Can it bolt up, yeah but it's not that simple.

Series 3 motors have a different LIM, different PCV system and different throttle body. You'd need a series 2 LIM, throttle body adapater plate and other smaller things.

Why does the 04 car need a S/C rebuild? Are they sure it's not just the coupler than went bad and it sounds like rocks in a bucket at idle.

Even if it really does have the bearings out, those probably cost less than a GenIII supercharger. Disassembly isn't simple. Also you'll need a press big enough of find a shop that'll press them out for you. The needle bearings can be a bear tho.

Honestly, I wouldn't go back to a GenIII just because Eaton really knows wtf they're doing and the GenV is a drastic improvement.

Sseilmnop rebuilds snouts for a very reasonable price deffinately cheaper then buying a gen 3 and lim and throttle body adapter while managing to lose horsepower and reliability. First check the coupler its a 20$ part and 90% of the time that is the part that's broken. If it does actually need bearings replaced then hit up Sseilmnop and he will hook you up and then you have a supercharger that has brand new spanking seals and bearings that you know is going to last a long time.
