    Hello,

After the 2002 GP GTP was stolen I am now driving a silver 2004 GP GT1. The car was originally from Arizona & the previous owner purchased it in 2008 & moved to Michigan in 2014. There is no rust on the body (I have not looked underneath the car yet), it has 156,000 miles, the black cloth interior (non powered) seats, are in excellent condition, the air conditioning works, there are no check engine lights lit up, the black carpet is pristine, the DIC is fully functional, & the oil was changed every 6 months with Mobile 1 (driven about 5000 miles between oil changes), it had new plugs (Bosch platinum) & GM wires installed 3/2014, and a new serpentine belt installed on 12/2015 at 150,000miles.

I had to tow the car home on a flat bed when purchased due to a coolant leak (according to the previous this happened while driving it and he pulled over immediately when it over heated & had the car towed home. I changed the plastic elbows (the top one was broke) & changed the water pump yesterday (the cooling system is no longer leaking), the dash insert (part closest to the windshields is cracked in two places (possibly caused by the Arizona sun), it does not have the antilocking brake system (ABS), and the paint is faded somewhat on the passenger side fender a mirror(maybe it was the side predominately in the Arizona sun).

I am considering the possibility of upgrading this car with a heads up display, leather seat & installing a super charger!

Does anyone have any recommendations on whether I should or should not do this?

    Thanks,

    Paul

Yes. You should do all those things. Grand Prix's are fun as hell to drive! That's my 2 cents. LOL. But then I also deal with a lot of grief from people who think this car isn't worth my time or money. F**k that noise though. DO IT!! If you're upgrading the seats, pull the leather ones from a 2004+. I'm pretty sure that all leather seats from any GP are power seats, so wiring will be required. I hope the undercarriage doesn't have a surprise for you. Shouldn't being that it's from AZ but ya never know. My car has virtually ZERO rust on the body...but some of the metal underneath, the strut towers, rockers, are F'd pretty bad. Good Luck!

When my Blazer was hit in front of my house it was totaled. It was winter and I was in scoop, so in a rush I used the insurance money to purchase a 2002 GP GTP (it was the one stolen). The 02 GTP looked ok on the outside (no rust), I failed to look under the car. when I did I found it pretty rusty and it needed new break lines. So I know what you mean!

Good Luck, I just picked up an 04 w/192K and a pesky rod knock but since I am a auto mechanic by trade, Im good. Just picked up a DHP tuner so when I gert chance to add a S/C Im ready to tune! Still working on getting it home from buddies house where I bought it from and locating a replacement engine. I have relined many a GM car brake line. It is so wonderful when EPA made the manufacturers quit using zinc/lead galvanization which never hurt anyone and the metal companies sold them on Al/gal,,,aluminum galvanization. Yet forgetting aluminum corrodes into aluminum oxide then falls off. SO we get rusted lines.
I actually think it was conspiracy on part of gov't and car makers as they dont want these technological wonders around in 100 yrs like olds are now!
    But then I do have 4 older cars too, 66 4dr Caprice, 69 Ventura 2dr, 77 Monza , 78 C10 diesel long bed(on air).
Good luck with 04, not sure but if you guys in Canada have you pull it yards ,as stated go scrounging.

Is your 2004 GP a GT1 or a GT2? What needs to be done in order to install a supercharger on non supercharged 3800?

It can be done but it's not as easy as you may think.
    Do a search.
You'd be better off buying an 04 or an 05 GTP or an 06/07 GT if you want to go the supercharger route.
