    Howdy all,

I have been in the market for a car for the last few weeks. My searches on craigslist have led me to some nice cars. I found what appears to be a great deal. The car is a 2006 grand prix gt with a supercharged engine. It has 151,000 miles on it. The owner is asking $2000 firm for it. The only thing really wrong with it is a small exhaust leak and a few dents and what not. The blue book value for this car is $3500, so this seems like a no-brainer to me.

This would be my first grand prix; I've never even driven one before. I go to look at it monday and more than likely purchase it. Is there anything I should keep an eye out for when test driving it? Any common issues known with this year with the supercharger? Any advice is appreciated.

That being said, if everything goes smooth on Monday, I will be a proud owner. I am excited!

Thanks for the response. I will definitely check those out. Being in Michigan with all the salt we use on the roads in the winter..... I would not be surprised one bit.

Look 4 oil in coolant, and coolant in oil. Check for piston ring "blow-by"....with engine running, remove oil fill cap from the neck and hold your hand over it....you should feel NO pressure or "wind" coming up out of there. While you're there, remove the neck and shine a lite down inside the valve cover. Even with 150K it should be nice & clean, shiny even, but no dark goo or whitish foamy gunk. Check all yer electrics too, windows, locks, trunk, radio display, climate control fan& floor-panel-defrost functionality. Make sure check/service engine lite comes on with key in run position b 4 starting.... I have known some unscrupulous types that will pull the display panel & pop that bulb to make that light go away.............Good luck......... E
For the record : I am NOT a naked meth-head who shoves rocks up my butt.

Thanks cheatah. I've never thought to try that. I'll put that on my checklist.
