    I'd really like to get this working but not exactly sure what I was doing wrong. I know the first time I had the wrong wires but after that I was using brown, black, and green. maybe it was my rca's? really sucks i ruined that cable cause the aux was high quality.

    would this have worked?? I'd just need a longer aux cable obviously


    just thought of something....I have a module connected to my rear speakers for my amp/subs, I thought I seen an extra set of rca's on it. would that have worked?

    You need to re read this thread from post number one. I can't see how you are having an Issue But let me try to explain It again

    1. Two ways to tap in. At the small (not big) connector on the back of your radio. Or the xm receiver in the left rear of the trunk.

    2. Three wires you will tap into. Note there are ONLY the 3 you need at the back of the radio connector.

    3. There are 4 wires from your set of rcas left has 2. Right has 2. NOTE: Ignore the foil or bare wire if your rcas have them they do nothing for us at the moment.

    4. Every set of rcas is constructed different I'm sure. My set was made by stinger. I opted for a short set of 3ft since I am using the radio connector instead of the xm receiver. I simply cut the ends off ONE side. Left was yellow for positive. And right had a red for positive. Both sides have white they are the common ground for the audio. You hook BOTH white wires together and then attach them to the black/white wIre. Hook your left to positive wire(mine was yellow) to brown/whIte. and your right positive (mine was red) to green/white

    4. Now your one end of rcas should be attached the car. The other In your hand with the left and right rcas untouched.

    5. I personally used barrel connectors (female on both ends) to attach (see pic) these 6ft male rcas to 3.5mm headphone jack.
    Your other option would be just get a female rca ends to 3.5mm jack.

    That's it.

    That helps out thanks. On my xm receiver I was using the long harness, wasnt sure how to get the small one off. I think the small one has less than 6 wires? I gotta get a new set of rca's now, probably the walmart brand.

    or was the small connector only described for the radio and I was using the proper harness on the xm?

    i dont see how you cant follow directions, there is more than enough info here to get the job done easily. go back and read cause all your doing is asking questions and its all in black n white.

    The small plug is where the 3 are at on the radio. the only 3 u need Is In that plug. You can noticablly see the difference the big plug twice the size of the small.

    at the receiver I haven't looked but there are no duplicate wire colors on either plug. Those 3 colors are the ones your usIng. Don't worry about what pin or plug just use those 3 wires.

    i am pretty sure the xm reciever has just antenna on it and the plug

    Yeah I think I was using the right wires then. I must have had a ****ty cable then. the antenna is the cable i couldnt get out lol.
    I'll have to get a new set of rca's and try again

    Do we leave the wire coming from the connector unhooked from the spliced wires? Thats what I was seeing in one of the pictures you posted. i'll probably go pick up the sosche rca's in the car audio at walmart.

    no its needs to be connected, i was jsut showing process, if you read you will see you need the 2 positives hooked up and the 2 grounds from rcas to the audio common ground

    On the diagram it shows audio common is pin 10(tan). But you keep saying ground which is 9(black).
    This is the only part I think that is confusing. I've done some electrical work in the past, hooked up sound systems over 20 times, but this part seems to be giving me issues. Any idea also where I might be able to get a 3.5mm jack so I can just run the aux cord straight from the trunk?

    Thanks for the writeup. I was able to tap into these wires up behind the factory radio. Same colors. Headunit is very easy to take out, so I found that easier than running the AUX cable through the car. If you use a 3.5mm audio jack, you can just splice the jack inline and have both AUX and working XM radio btw. Just unplug the cable from the jack and XM radio will resume.

    Agreed. Even in the OP, you said we'll be using Pin 10 (tan) as the audio ground. But two pictures later you say to connect the negatives to black/white (electrical ground). THIS WILL WORK. However it gave me some electrical noise through the speakers only when no audio was playing. Playing even a silent track made the noise go away, oddly enough, so it's really not that big of a deal. I was pressed for time and didn't have the opportunity to try out the tan wire, but my guess is that it'll eliminate the electrical noise altogether.

    well it makes sense now. the audio ground is the tan one where as i've been trying to use the black one. I'm gonna try it one more time and if I cant get it then I'll be contracting some help lol. The first time I tried it I was using the audio common but not the green wire at all. FAIL lol.


    This cable says its 22gauge so I assume thats sufficient enough? I know you said you used the rca's from walmart but how were the wires in it? sosche was it?

    i dont think cable is gonna be an issue, i have a low quailty in mine and is just fine., the wires were thin, thats why i soilderd them for a good clean connection.

    im thinking about using crimp connections, I hate soldering. I'll probably just get that cable i posted in the link so I dont have to worry about the other end of the rca's. plus it'll cost about the same as a walmart rca.
    I'll probably do it this weekend then. if the cable gets here in time.

    remebre leave the heaphone jack on it, and only cut the l+r rca ends off,
