From the looks of things thus far it's seems like the entire RF key fob and pushbutton start system will be under $100 (less than half of buying a finished aftermarket product). The only catch is that people will have to make their own fobs because it has to be an active system to get the necessary range of a few feet, and to do it cheaply it has to be done with a custom implementation.

Edit: I also forgot to mention that it will require an immobilizer bypass module that you would normally use with an aftermarket remote start system, which will be different for many years of the car.
