I've actually made the executive decision to go with an Arduino-based solution. It will be much easier to do it this way as people can just buy the board and install the software rather than requiring them to solder their own board, plus all decisions will be easily modifiable through software updates, such as crank time, LED status, push-to-start hold time, etc. It's going to be epic.
