We have been telling you the cheapest most affective way to go about your issue and you keep throwing money at the situation that doesnt need to be spent. Scotty knows what he is talking about. To buy a rebuilt engine from zzp is rediculous. Yea your car might be rust free but i took a look at engines in your area for anywhere from 350-800 bucks. You ignorance obviously indicates you wont be puttin it in yourself not because your not capable but because you go ahead and say something like you did to someone im sure you would be coming back to this thread asking for help during the swap process. Engine rebuild is stupid and a complete waste of money. Crate engine is still a waste. Yea you might have a good running engine but hey guess what i guarantee like he said you trans is shortly going to say goodbye. And thats more money you have to spend. So with your attitude thats another 3k for a rebuilt trans from a company and another 500-1000 to put in. We are not here to make things harder on you we are trying to help but you and your fathers ignorance is clearly blinding of that. With your attitude your going to put 10k into this car befor you know it when its worth maby 4 tops even with a rebuilt engine and trans rust free. With that kind of money you could get a low mile engine, a rebuilt trans, get heads, cam, turbo, and be pushing 450+ hp. But hey like others have said its your money waste it if youd like. This thread is dumb i hope noone else tries to help this guy.

Hahaha good one red keep your eyes glue to this thread anybody got some popcorn lol . Honestly the ignorance is not from me. if it bothers you that i'd rather waste my money fixing this motor in which ever method i choose then don't follow this thread, but atleast there are people on this that would like to know whats going on in the motor instead of just the method of replacing.
Iam just providing how far we will go. What iam saying to you is if it takes a crate motor or a rebuilt motor iam willing to go that far to keep this car problems and to not have any issues in the motor department if the tranny goes next then so be it i will replace that too if it comes to it.

Like i said before i dont need increase the hp at all iam happy with stock numbers if i wanna go fast i'll take my bike to the track as for this car i want something pretty sitting in the garage knowing i'll have no issues with it and that to me is worth alot more than a couple of thousand bucks this car been great pretty much up to about 250k so time to replace parts is upon me then wicked just means time to fork out the bucks to do it right.

But the thread from me was started to find out whats going on in theory or from past experiences with l67 what going on in my front cyl. Its more of guessing game really cause until those heads are off that will be the only time we truely know, then its up to me to take the path iam going to take.

If its going to cost me some $$$ to find out why its knocking then thats what i'll have to do and iam fine with that.

I don't discredit scott or yourself ginseng you have probably already been down this path before with these motors. If you dont want anybody to help me thats
ignorance on your part and i never thought i would get that from you ginseng.

To answer your question scott lol this car 13 years old i choose to not take it out in winters got couple trucks for winter here for that also it stored in a heated garage during those time and canada really big and she comes to the cottage with me every couple of weekends to push the kms up there.

I'll keep posting my results here as for knowledge about whats really happened here so for the next person thats see this and i got the same syptoms and might follow this path to find their answers of why the failure. Thats all i want from this.

mint or not, your car aint worth more then 2 grand book value especially with no engine. look it up son, its a old f ing car, not new, its 13 years old. if you got the mind set that its worth some retarded money your nuts lol

mint or not the way you are talking you will still spend more the zzp way then the cars truly worth.

and most of us know what it takes to have these engines rebuilt, we are all telling you its not worth it. dont bother buying or rebuilding a block unless you are planning for some HP if stock is all you want, then get a used engine, these bottom ends can and do last a long time when taken care of.

the arrogance and ignorance is all on you sir.

Respect the OP please. He might not be doing stuff the expected or way most of us would suggest, and that's fine. Different strokes for different folks.

Think about how Snowflake posts, especially his TVS thread. Nick takes a different path, as this OP is doing.

Different, but still dumb. We here on the internet (and IRL) have seen more than enough people go down the rebuild road only to end up with a $100 junkyard motor in there.

Ok found out some news today.

Crank Bearing was shot in the same cylinder that was replaced so i'am guessing that was not fully checked when the job was performed the first time just to replace the one piston. Changed mechanics now.

So now its onto a fully rebuilt engine for about $3200 3year warrenty unlimited kms which should be good could have got a used for 1500 with a one year warrenty but hell its time to dump some $$$$ into this car in the engine department. i get some pics of the bearing and piston in the next couple of days.

Trannys held up pretty solid so far so hoping that patttern continues. with 260k on the tranny iam amazed that other than oil and filter changes that it held up this long with zero issues. knock on wood

your nuts, buy the used engine and spend that money on a built tranny.

So she finally all back up and running mint now. Turns out pretty much blown front piston.... had piston pieces and oil pistons ring inside the oil pan.

Guess this when doing the compression test all the numbers i got were high with a wet and dry test all same withen 3-5 psi in each cylinder, also when i drained the oil there was no shaving inside the oil pan so it was all major part and very little shrapnel i guess.

The reason for the failure was when the piston was replaced 6 months ago the mechanic never replaced none of the gaskets and only used silicone and freakin purple black yellow every type i swear. So not sure how but the oil sump pickup was full of silicon pieces which i guess staved out the motor of oil or gave it very little.

The best part of all this was when the motor was broke this same mechanic asked for the motor back so he could fix the problem but there was no way in hell he was ever seeing my car again.

So now i got a fully rebuilt motor top to bottom($3200 from texas) and running beautiful put all new struts all way around. Couple small things left ,abs module and replace and a new rear view mirror, mine has seem to have liquidfied in a oval in the center. Best part was zero rust on the strut towers

you can take the mirror apart and clean the mirror and glass of most of the stain. clears it up nice till you find a working one. i just cleaned mine and dont care if it dims.
