I am wondering if it is worthwhile, a good idea, a bad idea, won't work, will take alot of work, etc. for the supercharger at the following link, to put on my GTP?

GM Pontiac Buick 3.8L 3800 Eaton M62 Supercharger - Brandon, Manitoba Classifieds

I only ask this, as I could spend my days polishing this one, while not having my car down during the polishing.

lol I like how the last picture is a genV supercharger (completely different). Dont buy that supercharger, its garbage. Get a Gen3 or a genV if you want one for a spare. theyre not even that expensive.

How difficult would it be to take my internals and put them into another case? I was thinking getting a wrecker special supercharger, polish that baby up, then put my internals into it? Of course it would be a good time for new seals, gaskets, coupler, and what not.

very and a lot more expensive than just getting another blower

Why would it be very difficult? If I were to buy a salvage yard blower, how would I tell if it is in good shape, or on its last leg? I understand the obvious bearing wear which is easy to detect, but how do I tell if the rotors are worn, or if it will build normal pressure? Yes, I know that the supercharger just moves air and doesn't actually compress it, but you get what I mean.

That M62 from the early 90's was found on the series I 3800 engines.

The cost is exactly the same or less. If you buy just a case, that's cheaper than buying a complete unit. Just use some sealant and call it a day.

Apparently, the cases wear in with the rotors pack and should never be mismatched. But at this point, it won't matter.

The issue with cost arises when you want to replace the seals and bearings. Rebuilding the snout requires a press, but can be done with basic tools. The rotor pack bearings are essentially non-serviceable. There's a thread on here about that, and solutions for replacing them short of buying a new rotor pack.

Alternatively, you could keep buying used blowers with decent rotor coatings and just keep using them.

The most expensive option would be either a rebuilt unit from ZZP which comes with a new rotor pack. Also consider a gen V swap, if only for the better rotor coating and case.

A bad rotor coating will chip and be very shiny. The colour of the rotor coating before carbon buildup is a light grey.

Lots of good info. Thanks. How much work is it to swap a Gen V onto my '03 GTP? (If there is a how to, just refer me to that instead of describing the procedure.

And lastly, is it even possible to adapt an M112 blower to the 3800?

M112 is pointless unless you're way out there in power, even then, some argue it's still pointless. Way out there being over 350 WHP. Reason being, the gen V m90 housing and a spacer is how it's fitted. So it's far from ideal.

Biggest cost associated with gen V is the blower itself. Last time I looked they were around 300 for a stock one, and a little more with an MPS hub or different throttle body.

If you want use the stock throttle body, you'll keep the costs down. I highly doubt the bigger throttle will help you any if you're near stock. If anything, just reduce the amount of usable pedal movement.
