Is it normal to have a fluttering type noise come from the rotor area?
Its been pretty quite for awhile but this morning it got louder, actually kinda knocked for a second right after start up. Ice searched and found that it may be rotor bearings and needle bearings, are these a DIY replacement part?

I changed the coupler and oil when I first got the car about 3000 miles ago, after this is when I first heard the noise but it could have been there before since you can only hear it with the hood up.

when the engines cold, if you have a open cone air filter, it sounds like a pile of crap. like gravel in the blower, once it warms up it goes away. they all do this.

if your getting a few loud ticks or clapping sounds at start up, that a lifter thats losing pressure over night. mine does this when it due for a oil change. the longer i wait to change the oil, the more it does it. change the oil it stops doing it.

if its the ticking at start up deal, GM says it normal if it stops with in a minute. thanks GM......

Yeah, your right that knock/tick could have been a lifter.

But the actual supercharger noise you hear coming from the middle of the case, and it gets louder as it warms up.

Vibration? Hold a screwdriver handle or something hard against parts of it.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

take the belt off, then spin the sc pulley. see if you feel anything like hitting. could be bad bearings, and the rotors are hitting each other a bit.

Okay, so I took the belt off and turned it by hand. It turned freely with no of sense or rubing or bind. If you turn it back and forth kinda fast you can feel alittle play and hear some clicking inside.

Ill try the screw driver for vibrations here in a min.

coupler could be worn already. you use a black one? or a green one?

bad coupler sounds bad at idle, goes away with some gas.

I think it was a black one, but I know it was the eaton brand one.
I don't think it's the coupler cause after I replaced it is when I first noticed the sound. I guess I could have gotten a bad one or something.

if you feel slop when turning the pulley back and fourth thats the coupler. it should be tight, no play at all. sounds like rocks in the supercharger at idle.

It Dosent really feel like slop in the coupler, more like in the rotors.
Just found out that the previous owners seafoamed it right before I bought it, said the didn't use much tho.
Coukd this have done something to it?

Okay, good. To describe it better you can't really feel slop but hear something click together if you turn it back and forth real quick.

I'd live with the noise, 3800's are always full of cool noises.

Maybe once it got really bad, then maybe worry about replacing something, but thats just me.

Im usually the same way, but the noise has been there quite some time and lately has gotten worse. to describe it better it sounds like the rotors are chattering and rubbing some like there's to much play in between them. It was staring to worry me so i went ahead and bought a 50K mile one from a member. ill pull my old one apart and see if i can fix and sell.

    Thanks for all the help.
