Recently put a lightly used ssm90 kit on my 01 gt. Got a 2 bar map sensor with a gtp bin file and im running a 3.8 pully with 21 degrees of timing. I only have a 3inch catless dp, Plog, er rockers (from my n/a days) 180tstat, and a stage one zzp tb. I **** you not my buddy put 89 octaine in it by accident the other day without telling me and we were beating on it all day and I never saw more then a blip of kr in hptuners. My wideband died but im running aprox 930mv o2s. Building 6-8 ish psi of boost. Al103s as per zzps instructions (Thinking now these are way to cold because i cant get a nice smooth idle anymore without pulling idle timing and raising rpms to 900+ in hptuners)

So basically what im asking is am I crazy and missing something here or is it definitely time to drop to a smaller pully? The only problems I am having at all are with the brand new trannie shifting like a 15 pound sledgehammer at little to no throttle. And it only happens with the gtp bin file flashed even with identical tables. Otherwise this thing pulls like a mofo. Whips my buddies 3.6 pullied gtp like its not there. Best 1100$ I ever spent (full kit, 60lb injectors, belts, hoses, gaskets, map sensor, injector adaptors, tuning credits, and a new fpr.)

you can definitely run more boost if you can run 21* on 89.

See what sort of whine you can make around 16* back on 91.

So the GTP bin has all of the shift points and final gear settings to match your current trans? If so, IIRC, a full write might solve that issue.

Ill try a full write to gt and then back to gtp tonight.

Why would I run 16* of timing? Just for fun to hear more whine or is there more to it then that?

My buddie has a 3.6 inch pully that he will give me on monday. Ill surely post then and update on what happens. Kinda modified zzps belt setup for the ssm90 so i get significantely more belt wrap even with the single belt still. So hopefully I dont run into belt slip. I should really post pictures of that lol. Dead simple and just requires a 2 inch larger belt. Anything smaller then a 3.6 pully and im going to a gtp belt setup though.

You'll make more torque, and arguably your head gaskets will be safer.

If you already have 60# injectors and a tuner your already set for e85 too. Dial in 30% more fuel in your ifr table and fill it up with the corn mash. then you could put whatever pulley you want on there down to probably a 3.4 or 3.3 maybe even less depending on how your setup reacts with the 9:1. On gasoline I would get the timing down around 16-18 and try a 3.6 or so

E85 is on the way this summer. Up where I'm living now only two stations sell corn and they are both 20 min drives away. Back at home corn fuel is everywhere and believe me I plan on running it. That's why I went with 60s. 3.6 pulley is going on tomorrow. From what I've read its a bit strange for my 9.4:1 compression to take to boost this well. I'll post how that goes and I'll have to post my modded belt setup that gives me more belt wrap with the single belt setup. Snowed so I can't test trannie fix yet.

what gear ratio is in the transmission? Pull codes when it slams (without turning it off) and report back. First thought is what others are alluding to.. you have the wrong gear ratio programmed.

Should be an easy fix. If you are using DHP, check the actual ratio from your bin in Tiny Tuner.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Got the 3.6 pully on their tonight. No kr issues whatsoever. Still happy with 20degrees of timing. Backed it down to 18 like you guys suggested though. I remember moving the ratio and everything over when I did the swap but I'll double check tonight. Could it have anything to do with me using a 2004 comp g map sensor? I didn't move any comp g tables over because I was told they are identical. I figure that could mess up the load calculations. Only thing I can think of will be the load calculation table or the other table that's used when your maf is unplugged. Never did a map tune yet. Just maf.

MAP tune can be tricky because the PCM might just reference the default MAF table instead.

Something you can't touch via HPT.

Well I finished doing some scanning now that roads are thawed and it seems that with 68 degree intake temps I can still run 20 degrees of timing..... am I crazy or is this normal? I double and triple checked all my gear ratio and speedo settings and they all are correct. Moved back to a stock pressure table and it got slightly better. Havent touched shift times yet. Still is like a slightly lighter sledgehammer. Going to try stock shift time tables next try.

Bill what codes should be pulled? Im not getting any fault codes from the pcm even after several hour long drives. Should I be scanning something in particular?
