So I'm looking at buying a set of tuned ECM/TCM from a guy on GSLS4. If u bought them would all I need to do is get a case relearn done? Or would I have to pay someone else to do more tuning on it

It depends on what's been done to them already and what you have.

From my understanding, case relearning is usually not something much to worry about. Mine snapped right in and fired right up as if nothing had been changed.

I just put my ECM/TCM in my 08 GXP and my car won't turn over at all, interior lights and radio all work. Bad connections? Bad tune? I unplugged the battery before and after removal but won't turn over one bit. Any ideas?

Is your ECM stock or is it a can tune? Try using your spare key to start engine.

Canned tuned from Will @ Overkilled. He replied and said I need to do a key re-learn, which I'm in the process of doing. 3 ten minute cycles of leaving the key on with 10 seconds to off in between, keeping door shut. In the process now......see what happens.

Also unless its the original ecm/ tcm from the car then u have to have dealer do a crank case relearn

I was aware of case re-learn but always assumed the car would at least start.......not be completely dead. Doing a key re-learn as we speak that I posted about. Fingers crossed and will keep posted. Thanks man.

Car is still dead, tried other spare factory key and did 4, fifteen minute intervals with key on, kept door shut and no luck. Waiting on reply from Will. I don't know what the hell to do. Still have original ECM/TCM so I will put that on and see what happens.

Try having dealership do a case relearn. The thing with the key on off for a period of time doesn't work with everyone from the research I've done on it. Its like a hit or a miss weather it works or not. And I've heard good things about overkill and plan to order a set myself soon.

Heard good things myself but everyone I've spoken too, didn't have starting issues and were at least able to get it to the dealer for case re-learn. So I guess my option is to drive to dealer with original ECM, then have them install the tuned ECM and do a case re-learn all at once? Will has been helpful and is sending me another one to see if I have the same issues. My goal is to get it to work above everything else.

After driving around yesterday with the stock ECM, I tried one last time today, put in the tuned ECM and did about 6 cycles, car started right up. Ran rough at first, shut it down, unhooked battery, and started it back up. Ran just fine, except engine light was on, which is because of a case re-learn needed. Everyone kept telling me it is a tedious process and you just get lucky. Can't really comment on the tune yet as I've just driven it around the block.

Sweet - I had left the tuned TCM in with my stock ECM and I noticed a nice difference in the shifting so I'm anxious to get the case re-learn and "get in it"..........hope you have better luck with the key re-learn!

Correct - I ran my stock ECM with the programmed TCM and worked great.

Next problem is - my local "stealership" said they won't do a case re-learn on the car since it has a "modified ECM". They told me all they would do is flash it to make it "stock" again. They won't touch it with an aftermarket ECM. My check engine light is on and from what I've been told, the car could just die at any moment. Trying to figure out what to do next........

In the end, I hope this is worth the hassle!
