No comments on my previous post about the code that I am throwing...??
Hey everyone, I'm back to square one with my 99 gtp, ordered and waited 2 1/2 weeks for my new fuel pump, and the car still performs erratically... I have not a single clue what to do next... In a nut shell, the car is misfiring on every cylinder... So many times at some points it causes the car to stall while stopped at red lights and stop signs, also, my fuel mileage has decrease more than 50%... A reminder that my plugs and wires have been replaced, as well as my crankshaft position sensor, and now my fuel pump is brand spankin new... And there are no codes coming up or engine light, what else can cause all of these random jumpy multi cylinder misfires??? I'm at a loss, AGAIN!any insight or suggestions are appreciated.... Again.... Thanks
Friends of mine have been saying it sounds like popcorn if they are beside me while it is performing this way.... And if I could post a video from my phone on here I would as I do not own a laptop or desktop
If there's a previous thread, we appreciate you keeping it all in one so that we aren't rediagnosing the same stuff.
I have had a couple cars that ran poorly and acted all messed up.
First off.. triple check the firing order.
Second, ensure the #4 and #6 wires aren't touching the O2 wiring or O2.
Third, crank shaft variation learn or CASE Learn. Oddly enough there have been a few that just wouldn't run right. Crank learn was magical.
Try unplugging the maf and see if it makes a difference. Also maybe try a compression test
A crank relearn was done, maybe I need to get it done again to be safe? And I will check the firing order again and those wires to make sure they aren't touching the o2... As for the MAF or anything else that can be checked or diagnosed by a shop, it has all been checked, not sure how a compression test is done? I'm guessing the shop didn't do one..
I also forgot to add that I had my catalytic converter cut out, and that o2 sensor is still disconnected... But it isn't even throwing a code or engine light... Impossible for this to be my issue right?
See..this is all the crap that if it was covered in previous posts... we are simply rehashing it and you are saying.. yup tried that.
was this already covered in another post?
Skip that..I found your damn thread. Merged. Questions answered.
One problem, one thread. Ok?
I don't know what else to say on here, the misfiring and erratic performance and rough idle has been my only issue, and all I have done is throw money at stuff that hasn't solved the problem, the "main" o2 closest to the engine is plugged in and functioning, it the lower one that was in the "u-bend" near the cat that is disconnected
Well put billboost37, it did sound like he got a little upset. @99grandprixgtp , I've used this forum many times and the guys that answer most ofmy questions.... Help solve my issues. Just gotta be more clear on your problems.Sorry to hear you took a crap though.
Ok, I'm taking the car to my local gm dealer to have it diagnosed, not the slightest bit happy about it either... Hope they find my problem for 119$$$ an hour
Kipp Scott's diagnosis found nothing, I found my issue myself by deleting the only code that was coming on a the scan tool, that being code p1571 "traction control" upon deleting the code my car went from a spitting sputtering stalling misfiring pile of crap, to running like a top, now I need to figure out what is setting the code off, the misfiring and rough idle is gone, but my fuel mileage is still shot I've noticed...
you need that rear o2 put back in, cat or no cat. thats where your gas is going i bet.
the trac control, jack the car up at each wheel grab the top of each tire, and push and pull to test for play in the hub. if you find a loose hub, that could be your problem, also check the plugs to the hubs, and wires leading from the hubs. take the plugs off, clean them, put a dab of di electrical grease in them, work the grease in. the front wires run along the lca, they get torn up sometimes as well.
When I get the time I'll definitely check this out, thanks
