That's what I was thinking last night, but I would have to take it off right at the bend. Which seems a little more structural.

I really want to know what happened that the direct from GM part doesn't actually fit. Is it something with my car that's somehow different(I can't think of what it would be), or did they get sloppy on the manufacturing process? I'm used to this kind of thing with aftermarket parts, but I think this is the first time I have experienced it straight from the manufacturer.
