I have a 2004 Grand Prix GT2. I installed a remote starter just this week. First they have to bypass the "pass lock". I wanted a remote with the ability to open doors as well so I dont need to cary two remotes. It also opens the trunk by holding the open door button. It working, the car starts, and when I put the key in ignition, it doesn't stall.
My problem is this: When I lock the car with the new remote, it doesnt activate the stock alarm system ( the one that is engaged when you lock the door with the GM remote while driver's door ajar). I have tested and in fact, If I was to lock the door ( alarm on or off) with the GM remote, I can't open with the new remote. In fact when the alarm is armed, if I start with new remote the alarm goes off!
The make of the remote is "direkt start" and in my area they almost all install this model
I specifically asked that the new remote do exactly the same as the old, but in fact when using the new remote I must put away the old one as they can't be used interchangeably.... Anyone know how to resolve this problem. I will probably bring the car back to them
