Well I never got around to installing one, though I had plans for it. I even bought the harnes that connects into the ignition switch harness and has the connections pre-made for a remote start harnes so that I dont have to cut and splice wires.

So, my advise to you, mainly because I love options on modifications where if I want to return to stock I can do so without hackin' up something, is to find someone with that harness. When I get my car on the road, I have intentions of putting a remote starter in there though I dont care to have an alarm or anything like that.

Seems you and I have similar plans, but I cannot answer your question regarding if a newer model remote start can be retro fitted to an older model. If it can be, I'll be hunting one myself as I would much rather keep the factory FOBs.

I will just say see if you can find someone selling that harness (I paid $20 for mine I believe) as it will save you or the installer from having to hack into the wiring. I dont know where to find them as I just happened across someone selling one and bought it. Hopefully someone else can point you in that direction.

I suppose if push comes to shove, I can look up the connectors and see what kind of trouble it would be to makes something like that harness.

    Thank you.

Do you think that a harness from an 06 or 07 could just fit right in? I test drove an 07 GT and it had the remote start option with the key fob. Getting the key fob would be easy but fitting the harness in might not be. If the car already had the option but just wasnt installed in might be easy to just plug and play. But knowing GM, its not that easy at all.

An aftermarket starter isnt out of the question. Especially considering my dad has a viper 2 way on his 99 Camaro. But he did the install himself and alot of wire splicing was needed to get it to work. I really liked the 2 way system as he could check the status of the car whenever he wanted.

At any rate. A good remote start will work even if its stock.
