ok i have a 2000 gt that stutters occasionally and randomly dies, usually while stopped but sometimes at speed. This seems to happen more when the air is on but not limited to that. i was told the map sensor was replaced several times and this fixed it but obviously if it needs to be replaced all the time something else is going on. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Has the tach ever dropped to zero, then say 5ish seconds later the car dies?

dont think its ever dropped to zero then died, although im not saying it hasnt done that. now several times the tach has dropped to zero while the car was stuttering and then started idling again

Have you checked your MAF or Idle Air Control?

i believe i was wrong when i said map sensor, i believe the MAF has been replaced several times, my mistake guys. i have never checked the idle air control i'm gonna check into that and the vacuum leak. i'll let you know if that helps. at any rate thanks for the suggestions, at least now i have somewhere to start.

any chance it could be the fuel filter, my gf is notorious for driving this car to the point the gas light comes on...

Might as well replace it if its even a thought, takes like five minutes to replace.

Driving the car on a low tank won't hurt your fuel filter but it will hurt your fuel pump by overheating it. Check your fuel pressure it should be 53-59 psi with the key on engine off. If it's not within spec replace the filter since it's good matinence to anyways hopefully that fixes it. if not then i'd start checking your fuel pump

Is it throwing codes, SES light on? Any weird smells from under the car when it's hot?

    Could this be EGR related?
