If I replace the Valve cover gaskets, do I buy everything for a complete valve job? Valve guides/valve lifter/valve spring/ valve seals..
How much more work is that?

no just gasket and the rubber grommets, clean them up real good and put the new ones on. you need to torque them to 8 mn .

I know nothing about cars.. but what if I just buy new ones rather than clean them.. How often are those replaced on a car?

Which part are you talking about.

Replace the gaskets and grommets for valve cover
Replace the LIM gaskets, coolant elbows, clean the TB and change it's gasket and if it's SC, the sc to lim gasket. If NA..then you should be looking at the UIM/plugging the lim.

I am NA. It would be nice to do a top swap... but Iwouldn't even know where to begin...

I listed all the parts above.. did I get everything? What else should I replace while they are in there? I want all new....

i think that about covers it. take a look at ur serpetine belt and see if its cracked. if not then dont worry about it. you might want a new thermostat. might as well replace it since the old one is coming out for the coolant flush. get the 195 degree. its the oem temp. i sent you a pm of a shop that should take care of you like it did someone else on here. so they should get the parts. if not, then you know what you need and should be good.

thanks I need to call them and see what kind of price they would give me.. I'd prefer to buy the parts as opposed to them..

I also called my mechanic to see if they can do better

I am looking at the replacement parts for my LIM/UIM and I was wondering if the gaskets that come with the new DORMAN UIM are ok to use or should I buy the Fel-pro kind to replace the Dorman ones? Any thoughts?

Which gaskets are you talking about? The ones that come with the dorman kit are perfectly fine. Probably produced by FelPro.

The ones that come with the dorman upper manifold. Part # 615180.. as I lited above for 75.00. Which is really cheap as it comes with the uim and gskets. Just wasn't sure if the gaskets were good at that price. The felpro gaskets forv the uim are$30

The dorman kit is the best thing you can do. It's got all theparts you need pretty much and it's a great deal.
