    the cable to the starter?

if you spun the stud on the starter, well it broke off from the back side of the starter.

that stud needs to be tight all by its self.

sounds like your grounds aren't right if you get those dummy lights all the time.
or the battery is low. when it's low retarded things happen.

edit: wait...are you talking about the starter cables or the battery cables? im confused.

Battery cables. Only one I touched was the positive. battery shows about 12.46 volts. There are two other wires on this same stud if i take the battery cable off the idiot lights go out and the key chime sounds. Cable is brand new from the stealership.

hmm. so you're sure that you hooked every wire/cable back up exactly the way it was?? there is a ground under the fuse box in that area...make sure you haven't messed up your grounds. did you mess with anything else??

That's what it sounds like a bad connect somewhere. i'll check that ground tomorrow when it's light again. car has remote start and I did break that wire but i don't think thats the prob i spliced it back though.
Really, only three nuts to do one to the fuse box one on the battery one on the stud. REALLY !!!!

the positive should not be "grounded" to the transmission. the neg battery cable grounds there...

the positive cable should go from the battery to the starter and on my Z it also goes to the fuse box on the driver side... but the pos is not to be grounded to the engine or trany.

hmm. the remote start wire breaking things raises an eyebrow. make sure that splice is good and solid. make sure your grounds are on and not corroded. also check ALL fuses just to be sure.

i dont think you fried anything, just sounds like a bad connection (or no connection) somewhere.

well just go check back over yourself and make sure you have the grounds hooked up properly. i had the transmission ground off in my old GT when we swapped the motor, and i could not for the life of me figure out what it was. and i had the same weird dash light symptoms as you. and it wouldn't do squat. so yeah.

when you hooked up the cable, were there a chit load of sparks, like a lot?

poss cable goes to the starter, neg goes to the trans stud.

im thinking you got stuff backwards.

no not really did spark a little at the battery though first thing i do tomorrow is swap that out. get lazy you get stupid. Think that's what happened here.

yeah. a little spark is normal when hooking up the battery cables but not huge sparks. i think you just made an error somewhere hooked up the wrong thing or didn't hook up a ground or something.

oh. and if it aint broke dont fix it....why did you touch it?
