Replaced hub. Now have problem.

Per all the wite up's, i followed directions and got the hub instaled with no problems. got everything torqued back to spec. my ABS problem was solved! now im getting a rubbing/squeeking sound as it turns. From what I've read, I never saw any mention of greasing this thing before installation. I assumed it was internally greased. Did i miss something somewhere??

You can grease it. Sounds like you got a bad hub.

you either have a bad hub , or the housing had debris in it and when you put it in place it may have damaged it .

but you get what you pay for , when it comes to wheel bearings

Fantastic. I'll give it a few more day to see if it continues/worsens. Sounds like i may be replacing it. specificaly, what area would be greased if i were to do so?

Hang on there buddy. You likely don't need a new hub.

Many times when we are fighting the hub, we bend the backing plate a little. This causes it to rub on the rotor in turns as the rotor flexes a little.

Check the backing plate before you spend the money if possible.

PS.. our bearings don't get lubed. They are sealed units and ... yeah. No lube.

I'm pretty (90% or more) sure you have a slightly rubbing backing plate.

let me run down my senario a little more so you all can better understand what i have going on.

originaly, i was getting the typical TC and ABS errors on the DIC.
went to a brake place to have codes read and they said it was the driver side hub.
i replaced the hub as per the write up's on the forum.

the fix worked fine for a couple months and then i heard a rubbing; just like a dry bearing and its been getting worse as the months go on.
now im getting TC, ABS, and steering errors at every start up.
i havent traced the wires from the hub to the ECU?? to see if theres a bad wire. is there something/somewhere specificaly to look for bad wires?

i'll have to search the forum to get more clarity on this backing plate issue as i cant picture it in my head. if its right up against the rotor, it cant be that hard to figure out i wouldnt think.

if anyone has pics/info on the plate and wiring harness, id appreciate it greatly.

i realized i was pretty vague to begin with and thats not a way to get good help when you request it!

well crap. ok, another hub it shall get then!

i use nothing but Timken bearings on my Jeep and have trusted them for years.
This is my first Timken ever going bad. is there another recomendation for the Grand Prix specificaly?
I know that when something is mass produced, your bound to get a bad one every once in a while. I would hate to think that im putting an unrecommended part on my vehicle in such a crucial location!

Best recommendation to fixing the GP/Regal/Monte/Impala/Bonneville wheel bearing issues would be to buy something else.

Go with Timken and try to get a lifetime warranty.

replaced the hub. the 'bad bearing' grinding noise is gone.

my TC, ABS, and VAS errors keep popping up at random now. before i replaced the hub this last time, it was at every start up w/o fail.

also, my ABS activates when the brake is applied maybe only 50% of the time now.

im leaning more towards electrical issues now?
can anyone agree/disagree with this??
