Yeah do plugs and wires and go from there. It could really be missing that high up but you're not feeling it because of road conditions or whatever.

Protip: If you're not going to take advice a lot of people will give up on helping you.

And no, an airfilter will not cause a status that would make your CEL blink.

I'm justsaying I got my car checked out before I bought it and the mechanic said it was good. 3 weeks after, I blew the engine up. I went WOT at 80 MPH, and coolant leaked into the engine, so I guess you could say it happens only at "high speeds". AND just because you see it at high speeds doesnt meant it isnt causing problems...

Get a new air filter, oil change, oil filter, spark plugs, wires, and coolant flush (just cause) and see if the problem is still there.

Either way I think its that awful dexcool so i was planning on rad. flush soon. Ordering plugs & wires tonight, hope thats the problem -.-
So AC delco si recommended over NGK? Or are they both about the same?

I just dont understand how it could be from a misfire at high rpm...i put in neutral coastin and held at 5,500 rpm and ran just fine...Unless the load on the engine causes it? If a fuel filter plugs and wires dont fix it. I might run a can of seafoam through it. I really appreciate the help at this forum.

A misfire can be from many things.

The engine's knock sensors detect the misfire by noticing some noise or lack of a cylinder fire when it's expected.

Therefore .. it can be caused by anything that would keep a cylinder from firing properly.

The most comon:
Plug
Wire
Coil
Injector
Vacuum leak at injector o-ring
O2 wiring touching a plug wire (#4 or #6)

The less common:
Chipped piston
Cracked piston
Moisture in cylinder from LIM or other gasket
Vacuum leak from gasket (air related)

Typically misfires are worse under load, therefore it would be more readily found at that point.

I'd hook up a scanner and go for a ride with the 6 cylinders showing misfire info in front of me. Look for the one that lights up. That's where you concentrate your efforts.
