Hi I have a 1999 GTP and everytime i try to drive it it seems to stay at the throttle level. I push the gas to weather its 2k rpms to 6k rpms. This is making it so I will not drive it but I love the car and was wondering if anyone had anything like this happen? I have asked some mechanically inclined friends and know one seems to have any good ideas.

clean the throttle body to make sure the blade isnt binding up, which it probably is.

if thats not the case, then replace the throttle cable.

My bikes do this fairly often (as they are motocross bikes), the case with them is usually a gummed-up throttle cable.

But in this case, I agree with Bio. Pull the boot off and see.
Bio, what do you suggest to clean it? I would think something similar to WD-40 would do the trick?

it could also be you throttle position sensor(TPS) or your idle air control valve(IAC) mine was doing that and i changes those and it works alot better, now mine only sticks open when it warms up but as soon as i start driving at normal speeds it stops sticking, so i am tryint to figure this one out now, it almost seems like the spring on the throttle body isnt strong enough anymore when it heats up

No your problem is probably ignition related. Your throttle isn't sticking, it's working. Your likely seeing a ton of KR. Try a tune up and see if that helps.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
