GM regulators seem to have a lot of issues. I have changed several of them out as the cables and cable guides seem to give out or get twisted. I worked at one of the facilities that made the window regulators. As mentioned some of the window guides can cause a problem, but that normally does not happen that I have seen unless something else has caused the issue. You can remove the whole regulator and check it out or remove the window and check out the regulator and window guides pretty easily on most GM cars.
If your window goes down and not up? I would take the door panel off and check things out, get the window up and then take the bolts out that hold it if you have that type or loosen the bolts on the clamp and take the window out and see if the regulator moves up and down OK. Just sounds to me like a regulator bad.
PS: watch what you lube it with if you decide to lube it.

I may have missed it, but I did not see posted the year of car you have with the Window Regulator issues. I know the Pontiac grand Am in some years has the scissors type non cable system " piece of crap " in my thoughts. Put your window down about half way and then try and pull up on it with a little effort, see if the window comes up or if it seems fixed. Let me know what you find out and I am sure I can help you out.
