Hey guys, so recently the weather has turned cold and frosty. I also not so recently put in a ZZP PCM, and shift kit, everything ran great. Then I installed TB spacer and sheild, 180 T-stat, and removed the EGR. And coinsidently it got cold at the same time. Now though I smell a strong gas smell when sitting still, at first I thought it was just running rich because of the cold start up, cause once moving the smell goes away. But then after the car has reached temp, and I stop and idle again I can smell it again through the vents. A quick look under the hood revealed no gas leak or strong odour. And the only puddles in the morning are when I idle it the moisture comming out the exhaust. Was wondering if anyone has an idea where I should look next?

I'd check for leaks at the fuel line quick connects under the hood.

take the throttle body spacer and sheild off to eliminate future problems as well. im sorry to tell you that you set money on fire with those two things.

Pop the hood and take a good look around. Then kick the key to on, off, on about 10 times to ensure the system is pressurized, then back off. Stick your head back under the hood. Follow the likes from the fuel rail to where they become hard lines by the drivers strut tower. In that space you will likely find a pinhole leak that is filling the plastic loom cover the fuel lines. You probably don't see it because it's filling the loom and drooling out somewhere out of sight.

On the TB spacer, very few can document any performance gain from it. Most can though document how a gasket in that area blows out and coolant begins leaking into the throttle body causing at worst your motor to hydrolock and a tow home. If you want to keep the TB spacer, I'd suggest blocking the coolant ports at the LIM to keep any coolant from being able to be a future problem. Your best course of action though is to take it off and sell to an unsuspecting newbie. Just don't tell us you did that, because we don't condone it.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

the throttle body, or the blower, heating up will not eat the air moving through it one bit. its literally moving too fast to catch any of the heat radiating from those surfaces. youre just setting yourself up for failure with a throttle body spacer because of what bill mentioned. just take it off, trust us.

I will give all the fuel lines and connections a second go over when I finish school. As for the throttle body being a waist. I bought them to reduce intake temps. I found that after driving hard the TB would be so hot I couldent touch it. The spacer is not a vortex power adder gimic, its just a Poly type material about 1/2" thick and it keeps the heat from transfering from the S/C. Works amazing after a 150km drive that ended with me highway leap frog racing and merecedes AMG (4 door something) it was still cool to the touch. So I'm very happy with it.

i understand what youre saying, but the throttle body being hot or not will not reduce intake temperatures. the air moving through the throttle body is there for such a short amount of time that it doesnt make a difference how hot the throttle body is.

feel free to keep it, but we're just letting you know what you got yourself into.

^THIS!!!! There is not enough time for the air passing through the throttle body to heat up, it's that simple.

If you are really THAT concerned with intake air temps, look into making a fender wall intakes or if you have the $ (although another waist) a thrasher intake box.

I have plans already for a ram air hood and intake. but its a while off (have a list of projects that never ends). and i see your guys point about the gaskets. I will most likely take it out later when i have some free time, or i will build a 1/6" aluminum block off plate with the cool CNC table the shop just got so no coolent flows into it. and i will test (with are temp gun) to see if it stays colder or hotter than stock.

back to the original topic of the forum, I went rummageing around and found the leak, the schreader valve on the fuel rail is leaking. so the innards screw out and can be replaced. so i ordered new innards $10 but they will be 7-10days so the cars gunna be sitting as much as possible till then cause its leaking onto the injectors and valve cover, and i had a buddys, buddy, burn his car to the ground because of a fuel leak.

As much as possible? Honestly I'd just totally park it. Glad you found your leak.

You are completely missing the piont. Outlet temps matter. Not the heat of the throttle body or Blower. Outlet temps can reach well over 300 degrees

Also, kinda difficult to make a functional Ram air hood.
