First thread here and here's what I have.

I have a 1998 Pontiac GTP L67 engine no mods just stock, engine has 13xk miles on it same with tranny. I bought it brand new back in 98. Engine started knocking on me and tranny doesn't come out of first gear. Some luck huh.
So a few weeks ago I was thinking of just giving up on it, but then after a week I decided it would be cheaper than to get another car with monthly payments. So my budget is 3.5k

So this is what I'm considering:

L32 out of a 07 grand prix with 19k with everything on it other than the accesories. Still waiting on trigger to buy it for 2k. Rebuild the tranny from a local shop for $750 4T65e HD. Local ASE certified mechanic who will do the engine swap along with the tranny for $500. (If you are local or nearby Fredericksburg, VA I'll hook you up with his info)

    Info I have gathered:

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I want to make sure I'm not missing anything or have incorrect info.
I can use the same fuel line from my 98, alternator with 98 bracket, and same wiring harness from 98.

Here's what I have read that I will need to purchase:
    Throttle body adapter from ZZP
    fuel injector adapter from ZZP
    Valve cover breather

    Things I'm not sure about:
Sparks plugs and wires are brand new on L67, can I use these on the L32?
Do I need to replace my PCM, if not do I need to tune my current one? Clueless about tuning if I need to.

    Things I'm considering:
I'm looking at a 4T65E HD from a 07 Impala SS 17k miles, someone selling one. What all do I need to do if I replace mine with this one or another one that is not a 98.

I appreciate any suggestions or any more info that I need, I just want to be fully prepared. I have not purchased anything but looking to purchase asap, just want to make sure I'm straight with everything.

an l32 wont give you any gains from an l67 besides you having a genV blower.

if i were you i would do an l26 bottom end with an l32 top end.

    So a L26 with a L32 top end is better than a whole L32?

The L26 has a higher compression ratio, so yes.

You know it never ceases to amaze me the lack of effort it takes to be a smartass. I mean, seriously 01GTP do you EVEN no why, because L26 does not have the 8.5:1 piston compression ratio. Dam dude can you give the sarcasm a rest? It was a QUESTION.

I'm just trying keep it simple and reliable, I figure since the mechanic is hooking me up with a good price I dont want him to change his mind and start charging me more for labor.
I just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything or if anyone that has done this L67 to L32 before, if they have any tips and tricks. TIA

I was checking some website and apparently I probably cant use the 07 tranny cause of some diffrences. Anybody have any info or experience with that?

no, you have to use a 97-03 transmission with it.

an l32 will do you well, it just costs more than an l67 if youre just looking for a cheap setup that will run.

I'm not sure whether or not he recommends the L32 setup or the L67 setup?

If I get an 02 tranny what do I have to change to make it work in the 98?

I'm having second thoughts on getting the L32, espeacially when I can get a L67 for more than half the cost.

At the local JY they have a 98 L67 from a Buick Park with 37k miles for $800 without the Supercharger cause some bought it seperately which is okay cause I have that already. will see if they take less, and they have a tranny for $670 from a 02 GTP with 40k.

i think your going in a better direction there. if/when you do get the motor i would check all the gaskets out, mainly the lower intake gaskets, they came with some pretty crumie gaskets and are prone to leak coolent into the motor.

i have no idea about the trannie.

Your right what sucks is I just swapped out the LIM on my current engine with the metal gasket. So I'm hoping I can reuse it since I only had it on for a couple hundred miles. I'm going to head out there now and see what I can negotiate. Need all the luck I can get. thanks

as long as you have the right gear ratio programmed in from the transmission you are dropping in then it is just plug and play.

aww man I'm so pissed. They wanted a vin # before I even atempted to make a purchase. Auto salvage wouldn't even let me look at the engine unless of course I purchased it, and they wouldn't even sell me the tranny for an 02. They said if it didn't come up under my car they wouldn't sell it to me. No negotiation room at all, they had a 15% for Ad and Ret Mil, I asked if they would do some type of discount for Reservist but no love. I ended up just walking out, as much as I wanted the engine, I felt that their customer service sucked and if someting was wrong this is what I would have to deal with. Who sells used engines and doesn't let you see it?

that is stupid. why would they refuse a sale when you clearly know it will work?

i would say get a hold of ed morad, but shipping can kill a good deal sometimes.

Actually the 07 L32 would becoming from Morads, I think I actually found me a great deal. I found a 06 L32 with 29k for $850 total $1050 with shipping. $200 more that I was going to pay for the L67 and almost $1000 less than the L32 I would get from Morad.

I figure I can always get a few bucks back by selling the top end parts from the L67 I have now like the S/C and intake and heads. not much but something.

I'm glad you put some doubt in me getting the L32 at first, made me shop around some more.

I used this website to look up parts all over the US to alot of Auto Salvages.
