So, a couple months ago back in June, my driver rear window would not go up or down. It was like it had no power. I tookd the door panel off and fiddled with everything, but everything seemed ok. Neither switch would work. Later that day, i went to my gfs house and went to roll it down and it worked fine. weird. Maybe it was a kinked wire in the door jams?

fast forward to last weekend on a camping trip, and my passenger side front one did the same thing. No power it seemed like but all other windows worked fine. Neither switch worked again. Fiddled with the switch and connections and all of a sudden it worked after i went back and forth a bunch of times on the switch.

fast forward to today, i get pulled over by a cop for window tint, and he comes up on my passenger side so i have to roll down the rear and tell him it doesnt work cuz it wouldnt roll down when i tried. tried fiddling with it and its not working at all. both switches not working.

what could be this issue? kinked/pinched wires? the excessive humidity and heat? window motor? i dont think its the window motor cuz i would think a bad motor would just quit working all together or try to work and quit. I am leaning towards the driver switch going bad. I would think if theres a short in that, the passenger switch will not work either....idk

the sporadic nature of the window leads me to this conclusion. I just replaced two regulators and motors and it didnt act like this, they just went like you said.

probably a switch. If the passenger switch goes, this makes the driver switch not work either and vice versa

yeah i cleaned both switches with no luck. its either the driver switch or the motor. i doubt its the passenger switch bad because that rarely gets used.

I had the same problem on my wires 97 GTP. Only hers was the drivers side front window. The problem I found on hers was that a brown wire on the back of the drivers side switch was loose. You couldn't tell by looking at it but when you wiggled the connector the window would roll up and down. The first place I would look is on this switch since it controls all of the windows. You should be able to pull the switch out without taking the door panel off. Good luck.

if the plugs are the same--try one of the back window switches on the driver side front to troubleshoot. That seems like the easiest way other than jumping it.

This. All the window switches are the same except for the driver's auto down one.

This happened to me when I first got my car, drove me nuts until I took the connector out and fiddled with it.

thats a good idea. i'll try that.

    heres my experience yesterday:

i took off the pasenger panel and i took a test light to the plug going into the motor. Theres 2 wires for it (1 only works when the window goes up and the other will only work if the window goes down) so it looks like its getting power. However, that test light i was using was grounded and i just think it tests to see if an electrical current is flowing. guy at shop said that it could be pinched ground wires in the door jams but i looked at all of those.

so, i put a remanufactured motor in the car yesterday (new from store) and just plugged it in to see if the gear would turn. It did nothing. So i dont think its the motor, unless i got a bad motor from the store.... i have 2 newer switches coming in teh mail. if that doesnt fix it, i dont know what to do next...
