"chirping" could be a tensioner maybe
i had a chirping sound when i had a bad bearing in the alternator... i didnt cover it up the first time i washed the engine bay and im sure water getting inside it had something to do with it....
yea i have a nasty squeel in my ac compressor but im to lazy to fix it and its only when it gets wet hope i make it through the summer
My chirping/squealing turned out to be the tensioner pulley that decided to sieze up, and then the belt burnt a hole in my power steering pump resivor. It was rusted so bad that the bearing reatainer thingy was deteriorated. But this happened a couple months after that noise went away. Ended up being a nice 2 mile walk, because I forgot my cell phone..... and am a moron because I forgot about OnStar thats on the vehicle....... live and learn I guess.
Just take an old piece of 1" hosing or something and use a sort of "stethescope" and listen to each pulley while its running. Just be careful of the belt....
well it was doing it before i replaced the pump,, then got twice as bad when i put it all back on, my usual mechanic said it was the belt because one of the sides was worn down before i replaced the pump
my belt makes all kinds of noise if i hit a big puddle but a quick rev gets rid of it....
