hey guys. I'm new to grand prixs! I'm looking at getting a 2000GT and I have a couple questions.

    1. Its my understanding a 225-60-16 is stock tire size. Will a 235-60-16 fit ok?

    2. Are there any known problems with these vehicles I should look out for? The 2000 GT I'm looking at has 103k miles and has been a service/lease vehicle when new. It was rear ended in 2004 but noone can see any evidence of damage. Hopefully it was fixed right.

I havent seen the vehicle yet. Waiting on pics. I'm about 4 hours from the car so I want to get all my ducks in a row before making the drive/set sail for fail!

How are the transmissions? I know the transmissions in the GTPs can be sketchy, but this one is (obviously) naturally aspirated.

Are there any major services that should have been done by now? Timing belts etc?

From what I've seen around me (2001 GT $2500 with 158k miles, and some others like it) this one is a decent deal for $2500. Its a trade in at a dealer lot.

Any other pointers? Much appreciated! This is for my girlfriend so I want to make SURE this is a good buy, so I dont have to hear about it later lol

    1.) Yes (That's what I have on mine)/
2.) Most common problems is Lower Intake Manifold (LIM) leaking coolant into the oil. Search for it. Also, ignition switches seem to go bad often ..

Maybe some others will chime in.

235/60/16 will work just fine. They're a touch taller, but not enough to rub anything. Plus, they fill the wheel well a bit better.

Rear ended in 2004, wonder what happened to the hood that they replaced/repainted it? Wrong shade of silver to boot...

That looks like every possible option on a GT available?

HUD, Digital Air, Equalizer radio, Digital DIC,

    but I guess no Bose?

Yea look over this car, open the hood and check if anything looks like it's been cracked or missing (Not motor wise)

So the dealer replaced a faulty coolant temp sensor and MAF sensor and the price went from $2500 to $4000 they can keep it.

Local dealer to me has a 95 grand am with a 3.1 and 99k miles for $3200. Might look at that.
