I measured the diameter of the shaft and the inside diameter of the removed stock pulley and the pulley was almost .0025" smaller. I've read a couple of other stories of a hard removal. I heated with a propane torch while dribbling water over the seal area of the shaft and it was still a rough removal. This totally destroys the stock pulley in the process, for what it's worth.
My S/C snorkel seal started leaking a couple weeks later and I ended up rebuilding the snorkel with upgraded seal and coupler and used ceramic bearings which supposedly run 30% cooler. The moral of my story is; it might be worth removing the snorkel to install the new pulley and upgrade the coupler while it's off.
I purchased "Pulley Boys" quick-change pulley system and I love it. You can purchase different size pulleys as you continue to mod and it only takes 20 minutes to change pulleys. The puller is $135 and you need to use it if your not using a shop press with the snorkel removed.
Ofcourse the pulley bore was smaller, its press fit. I've changed 2 on my car with no issues using zzp's puller. Maybe that pulley boys tool is crap. And ya heating the shaft would def destroy the seal.

ZZP makes a puller that is easier to use and does not destroy a pressed-on pulley.

mine was easy swap out with zzp puller as well...to do that and plog total about an hour or just over tops...depends on how much your exhaust bolts are rusted. If everything comes off like new an hour total for both...

What's up with the slammimg attitude? I know what a press fit is but I didn't expect that much deviation. Wish I would of heard of ZZP's puller at that time but I always learn something new when working on my cars. And by the way, I didn't heat the shaft directly, but I do understand heat transfer which is why I was cooling at the seal area. It just didn't work the way I hoped.
