I'll get some more pics of my 06 setup posted for you. Most guys may steer you away from it since its a short ram and only sucking in hot air but i will hopefully be working on a homemade heat shield soon
Yeah I watched a video of a guy that had a ram air intake installed on 2 different cars. He made a custom heat shield with some cheap steel and foil tape.
I wouldn't mind seeing pictures. I'll probably end up doing something easy but I'm always willing to learn more and see more.
fukk CAI/FWI......flow>temp and if your worried about heat soak tune around it...
So if I tie it and the check engine light doesn't come on then it's in an ok spot?... Also how come not many people have the filter directly on the TB? Pictures I see usually have at least a little piping or tubing..
this man, this...
i added the rubber coupler at the TB so the MAF would not get as hot from the TB. the MAF has to be inline with the filter and tb. it can not just be zip tied up in the engine bay.
I'll get the picture up here in a little while, you want me to put it on here or message it to you?
Yeah, I just figured if it was tied in a certain spot that it would still detect airflow and be alright, but I was just taking a guess at it.
Also it seems like you guys have huge cone filters, the one I have is maybe 6-7 inches long, I'll measure it and be sure, but will I need a bigger one?
I have an external MAF also and this is how mine sits.

Attach the circled sensor to the tb with a rubber clamp. Then either run some pipe from that sensor close to the fender well or just put your filter on the other end of the sensor.
Would it be the same to just leave the sensor where it's at then take the stock box out and attach some pipe so the filter gets closer to the fw? Or would that not work right
It would, but part of the problem in the intake is that coregated piping.
get a rubber coupler from the plumming section of your local home depot.
just so you know, inside of where the coupler meets the 45* bend, i put a smaller plastic tube that forces the bend to stay open since it's rubber. Otherwise it won't grab and will just fall off
See if those help you out at all
