if you dont feel like dishing out the money for the egr you can just delete it. many have done this and reported no change in gas milage.

if that does not help i would look into an o2 sesor next.

Then they are full of poop, drive like maniacs, or have other underlying issues. The EGR does improve fuel economy under normal driving conditions.

i too was under the impression that removing the EGR negatively affects gas mileage. if i remember correctly, you can get an egr block off plate from zzperformance.com, and in the description, it says it will lower your mpg a little bit

You can also RTV a penny over each of the two holes.
