I am willing to spend too spend 10k if I have to, but I really don't want to. How much should pay to get a decent gtp? Also are there any advantages to getting 04+ model as compared to the 97-03 models. Also which model do you guys recommend th 04+ ones or the 97-03 ones?

P.S I am sorry if this makes lillte sense I am drunk

Get a 97-03 for around 2-3 thousand. Spend the rest on mods and run low 12's.

    But that's just me.

which model depends mostly on how new you want it and which body style you like. Performance is quite similar for the most part. What does decent mean to you? Whatever you do leave at least $1500 for mods and you will have a fast car either way......we need more info of what you want out of a car to give you a better answer.

I am trying to make it decently fast like low 14 to mid 13s. I just hope it is faster stock than my 96 e320

that is where the 3.4 setup will get you.........which is why you will need the 1500 dollars...........it will get you low 14's or high 13's with a good driver and the correct supporting mods........please read the "safely modding your 3800" thread it will describe in detail what I am talking about......

    I bought my 98 GTP for $600...

Personally, I rather it have been a 2D, Black or any color but red, with a sunroof.. but for the money, I can not complain at all.

I wish I had more $$$ To dump in it right away.

    I'd go with a pre-04 GTP.

I'm pretty sure there around high 14's stock... just like they were saying, basic crap will get you mid-high 13's

Then hook me up with a few thousand so I can do my car up to :P

Guy said the motor had a knock, the guys "Mechanic" Told him the motor was blown.

Turned out to be a bad a/c bearing.

Other very minor things, that are mostly fixed now.

good deal on the car for you.........I dont know if that is a factory freak or a bolt on car called stock or what, but most of our cars wont run that fast "stock" not saying it couldnt happen, I just wouldnt call that common........It depends where he ran or if it was on slicks also. My car looks exactly the same as yours other than the coupe vs. sedan. I was looking for a black one, just couldnt find one in decent shape for what I wanted to spend......oh well.

Yeah, before I purchased the red one, I drove 1 1/2 hours to check out a 2001 Black 2D GTP..

The person was asking 3000, I talked her down to 2000, then I'm going down the street and it shifted into 1st,2nd,3rd then that was all...

    I was like ""?

So long story short, I took the car back to her and asked for my money back.. she gave it to me.

I found the red one a few weeks after.

I picked up my 2000 GTP a year ago for $9,000 but it only had 38,000 miles on it. I figure it was a little more cost initially, but then any modding I do will be enjoyed just that much longer.

Yup...got my '03...man it'll be three years here soon...and I got it for $10,000 even plus my $300 Buick they didn't want to take...which I MADE them because it had a full tank of 87 and I didn't want to siphon it out LOL Although...it only had 89K on it for a '86 Century

My GTP was fully loaded...tinted windows, K&N Drop-In...AND...no HUD. It is very difficult to find one without it, but I did. It only had just over 40K on it too.

I talked with my dad and decided to only spend around 7000-8000 max. I have 5000 saved and my dad is gonna give me 3000. Also would buying one with 100,000+ mile be a bad idea??
