Every thread I've read about tuned pcms and all of the different brands, most people have said that a custom tune is best. I was wondering how a custom tune works. Theres this place near my house that I believe has a dyno, but I'm not sure. The place specializes in imports and does a lot of nice work. Their stuff is not ricer at all. Would anyone trust them to tune my car? And maybe I need more than just a dyno. I don't really know what I'm talking about. And is the stock computer capable of being re-tuned?

yes, you can re program your stock pcm.......it is up to you or not if you are comfortable with anyone tuning your car. They have to know what they are doing or they can mess up your engine and/or trans in a hurry. Those aren't the cheapest parts to replace or not. They also have to have the correct software to access our cars. Go to the place or give them a call and ask what their experience level is with tuning 3800 cars. See what they say their experience level is. If you are on the fence about it, I wouldnt have them do it. Find someone you can trust who is hopefully local. It is a lot of trial and error as far as custom tuning goes and lots of adjustments, this is why a mail order tune helps but not as much as someone who can see how your car is reacting to the program and adjust it accordingly........just my opinion though. I personally dont know exactly how it works, as I have not had this done yet........but I hope to when I get my mods in place...

they need to have HPTuners and have to be familiar with supercharged cars (roots blower). otherwise i would not trust them to do anything. also, youre going to need a wideband on it to get a good tune.

the stock computer can be tuned as many times as you want, its not locked.
