Hey guys I live in Canada, the closest Tune shop to me is about 10hrs away. I want to mod my 05 comp g. Heres the deal this tune is going to cost $500+ So I want to do it as few times as possible.

Heres what I have plannned for the car after doing some research.

    1)CAI
    2)Headers w/Downpipe and cat
    3)1.9 Rockers w/springs
    4)Intercooler stage 2 or 3
    5)pulley swap

I also am going to get plugs/wires/t-stat

At what point do I need a tune?
Can I get away with it until i do a pulley or should i tune before.
Im trying not to blow this up so what does everyone reccomend?

You need a tune whenever you mod at some point IMO. Buy a HP Tuners and learn how to DIY it.

I know nothing about tuning, I would need a good resouce to get going. Ive looked at a program a friend had but it made no sense.

with those mods you can run a 3.25 and scan and have no kr without a tune (ive done it )
but to get the most out of your mods you def need to tune.. do not get a mail order tune unless the PCm is UNLOCKED and you can work from whoevers tune.

HP Tuner forums help you out with the tuning plus there are a bunch of people on here with it that I am sure would be willing to lend a hand if you needed help.

When you say open cone do you mean FWI? If so which one should I get. Id rather not make one unless im going to save a great deal of $$. Also I want it to look nice.

Also this Intercooler probably wont be before 18 months since im going with exhaust first and dont have a spare $3k laying around.

Appreciate all the feedback guys, its good to finally own a GTP after owning a 93 3.1 for 7 years. BTW the exhaust work should be done within the next cpl months.

    Who's TDR? lol

Check out TDC Racing's products...great stuff. Cheap as hellz too. The 3 grand is probably a zzp based budget.

Ok heres how I break $3K down....

    1) CANADIAN - US currency + Shipping
    2) Headers with cat'd downpipe = $1100
    3) RR with 1.9s = $640
    4) Intake = $250
    5) Stage 2 IC complete setup $1300
    6) Supportting mods = 200 - 500

Please tell me how i can make this the $1500 you said you paid lol.

First off...I'll tell you how as those prices are nuts unless you have money to waste.

    1) Headers - $600 Shipped and Welded...Pacesetter's
    2) Get Modded 1.9's from ZZP - $300 ish
    3) If you going IC then a intake will cost less than $50 as you need to just bolt a cone filter to the TB (or MAF in your case since you have a '04+ car)
    4) Get a TDC Stage 2 Phenolic Intercooler, Pump and everything for $1,000 or less
    5) Supporting mods (T-Stat, Polys, Plugs and Wires) MAYBE $200.

So I'm getting about a grand less than yours and if you shop around I bet it can be had for that IF NOT around $1,500 or so.
