I plan on doing a full flush and hose change next weekend but one thing I have not done yet is pick up a T-Stat. I was reading some info on if I were to drop in a lower temp T-stat that I would get bad gas mileage or the computer would trip codes.

However I dont like the fact that I can fry an egg on anything under the hood after its been running. Would it be ok to grab a 180?

    Thanks!

Yeah it would be fine. It won't hurt a thing. It doesn't change gas mileage at all and it deff. won't throw a code. One thing I noticed about mine was the engine temp didn't really change much with just the t stat. It took me puttin in a dhp pcm to make it stay much cooler cuz the fans came on sooner and stayed on longer. But the t stat is a cheap upgrade and u should do it while ur already in there.

T-Stat won't really do anything unless you have a tune and your fan turn on point turned to 185* vs. stock. You will really only notice the temp change on the highway cruising...but it won't hurt...go ahead and throw her in there.

It's not going to really hurt your MPG to where you'll start seeing differences. Now with a 160*...maybe.

Thanks for the replies. I have yet to go out and get a T-Stat but will by the weekend.

You say 160, what are the pros of a 160?

nothing besides a super cold running motor. there is no reason to run one unless you live somewhere like texas or some desert-esque hot area.
